How Can I Improve Dream Control and Remember to Stabilize my Dreams?

I need someone to help explain to me how to best improve 1) My dream control, and 2) Help me find out how to remember to stabilize my dream.

Last night I had a random DILD and immediately attempted to fly. It didn't work. I knew I was in a dream and had complete control but it just didn't happen. I first attempted to make myself levitate into the air. Nothing. So next I tried to just run and take-off like a plane. Again nothing. This repeated frustration I believe made me loose control of the dream and actually turned it into a false awakening instead of a successful LD.

How can I improve my dream control and remember to stabilize my dreams. The issue for me with remembering to stabilize is that in dreams my memory of waking life gets very foggy, and I have trouble remembering my goals for the dreams.

Because you are separating yourself from the rest of mankind. When you separate yourself by belief, by nationality, by tradition, it breeds violence. So a man who is seeking to understand violence does not belong to any country, to any religion, to any political party or partial system; he is concerned with the total understanding of mankind.”

You can try flying by giving yourself wings or a jetpack. Or start small with trying to walk through walls or telekinesis, than try to do big things like fly or whatever . As for remembering to stabilize a dream, if you are lucid enough, you will remember to stabilize the dream. In the dream you described, you probably weren't that lucid or the dream was un-vivid. Good luck!

Well if I wasn't that lucid in that dream or it was un-vivid, that's disappointing, because that's how most of my dreams feel like that one. Including my few LDs. I hope I don't have some kind of problem with dreaming. I know I have a decent dream recall, I'm often able to log 2 or more per night, but usually settle with logging 1 due to lack of time.

Don't get discouraged. Until you become better at lucid dreaming, some of yours may be of low lucidity or vividness. Though during the dream you described above it also could of been that your REM period was naturally ending. When a REM period is ending and you are still in a lucid dream, you tend to loose dream control and consciousness. Hopefully that was the case

You don't have a problem with dreaming so don't worry about that. As jblb said you could try using wings or a jetpack to fly. Also when you do try to do anything in a dream be sure you completely visualize what you want to happen. If you want to fly first try just levitating off the ground a little bit. Stand there and imagine yourself floating upwards, your feet slowly lifting until they're off the ground. Look up and reach for the clouds. Focus on the actual aspect of flying and leave the idea of the ground behind completely. Eliminate thoughts that hold you back and just let yourself fly!

If you're having trouble remembering to stabilize try stabilizing every time you do a RC in waking life. After you plug or nose or whichever RC you choose rub your hands and focus on your surroundings (or however you stabilize). This will get you into the habit of stabilizing every time you RC so when you do it in a dream and become lucid it is more natural. You just have to be sure that when you stabilize you really focus on your surroundings, becoming in-tune with all 5 senses. Otherwise you'll just rub your hands without really thinking and it won't really help you.

If you're still having trouble remembering what you want to do in a dream try incorporating MILD into your techniques. Instead of saying "I will get lucid" say something like "I will stabilize when I get lucid." Anything that incorporates stabilizing will help you remember to do it once you do get lucid.

      Hope this helps

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

For dream control i would start much much smaller. Convince your brain through having small successes. It is hard at first for your brain to buy the idea of dream control, so nurse it along for a few dreams. Here are somee minor control items that you can use to build confidence.
      1) basic summoning: you do not make something appear from thin air, but you intend on seeing a certain item. Pick something while awake, my first item was a sword. Success is having that item appear in the dream. It took me about three dreams and i finally did it by yelling to an imaginary DC behind me "quick! hand me a sword" and then looked behind me. Some guy quickly handed me a sword.
2)enhanced physical ability: simply convince yourself that you can do some thing that you could not do your self, but is still possable. A simple one is jumping onto the top of a car. Use a story line if needed like, I am a world class athlete showing off on a TV show. Then attempt that easier feat. Success is just being able to do something you can not do in real life, like walking a tight rope.
3)Make something disappear by turning away from it, and then looking back, and having it gone. You may use a story line here also. For example set down the cola can,, say in disgust "take this sodaa back, it is flat" then turn away, and wait a moment then look back knowing your waitress has already removed it.

These items may not sound fun, but that is how I recommend starting, and face it, how likely are you to be able to convince yourself you can fly, if you can not even get a dream waitress to take back a Pepsi?
Peace Be With You. Oh, and sure, The Force too, why not.
