Poll: How long until you had your first lucid dream?

I searched for a similar poll on dreamviews but I couldn't find it. I'm going to try making a poll.

I contemplated adding "Havent had one" to the bottom, but I'm interested in knowing how long it took for people to successfully obtain a lucid dream.

I should have reviewed the poll options better before I posted them. There is some overlap/underlap.

I kind of want to delete this thread now, lol.

I had my first lucid dream on March 2011. So I guess that's >1 year.

EDIT: I misinterpreted the thread. I thought you were asking how much time has passed since our first ld. Anyway, it took me 2-4 weeks to have my first ld.

I want to say 1-2 weeks. Can't really remember exactly, though.

I put 2 - 4 wks to be on the safe side, although last year's dream journal indicated that I had an LD within 1 week of starting it. However many years ago I did get 1 or 2 'natural' LD's (per year) before I knew about WBTB or any techniques, etc.

I did keep a DJ quite a few years back and I used to put the odd lucid dream in there.

Since I've been on DV then I haven't looked back in regard to LD progression.

I think the poll needs an option for people (like me) who spontaneously started lucid dreaming prior to even knowing about or really researching the topic.

I've gone for < 1 week because one morning I just realised I was dreaming and took control and it started from there.

Unless the topic is aimed at people who have found out about lucid dreaming and then went about trying to have one.

Well I had one as a kid, when I didn't really knew what it was so by then I did it naturally and didn't counted the days so I can't know.

Although if we take the time from when I wasn't borned to when I got it then it would be ehm 7 years. xD

Later on when I watched the Matrix and then Lucidipedia and learned what lucid dreaming was well it didn't took long, because I was skeptic to the existence itself x. x

So it took less than a week. However after that I was focused on only getting a lucid dream and that welcomed the dryspell to my life

Less than 24hours for my first lucid, got it the same day I heard about the subject.

I gotta say "respect" for people who took longer than 1 month, in my personal opinion that's way more impressive than people that got it within the first 1-2 weeks, because it's not easy to stick to a challenge like lucid dreaming for so long without getting any taste of lucidity.

I completely agree. Although it took me less than a week as well, I realize it must be very hard to be persistent with something like this. I have talked to people who have gone even over a year without being lucid, despite all their efforts. Regardless of their techniques, or attitude, it's remarkable to see them dedicating an aspect of their life chasing something magical – lucid dreaming.

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

It took me around two months from when I learned about lucid dreaming to have one. But in the dream I had no control. I just knew I was dreaming.

Interesting... my assumption was that people had a spontaneous lucid (or experienced them quite frequently), and then found themselves on this site. It was the case for me..... so none of the above. I see my assumption was incorrect. ^_^

Yep. If I hadn't first experienced lucid dreaming before learning how to induce them voluntarily, I probably would've thought: 'ah this is bollocks... another mad fantasy' and then gave up.

It took me 6 weeks to have my first lucid, but it took 3 months before they lasted more than a few moments.
