      LD Technique suggestions?

Hello! I am just starting up lucid dreaming, and so far am having absolutely no luck due to lack of time. i go to bed at 8 or 9 and wake up at six. I have tried WBTB MILD, for a while now, and theres still no luck. Everything just gets foggy and soon I forget what i need to do. So, i was wondering, what lucid dreaming techniques are recommended for a student such as myself. Anything will do.

Do you mean that you get lucid and then you lose lucidity?

No, I mean that I wake up, stay up for a bit, then go back to bed. while falling asleep and repeating the mantra, my mind drifts off, and i can't focus on anything.

I see. It's ok if your mind wanders. Realize when that happens and gently bring it back to mantra. You acknowledge your thoughts, don't try to solve them, just gently push them aside. No need to focus on anything else, just on mantra. A simple one like "I'm dreaming" will do.

If you fall asleep too soon after WBTB, try to stay up few min. longer, or do some math problems in your head to wake up your logic center.

The ultimate goal is to fall asleep. Besides mantra, you can try and visualize maybe some older dream, or visualize what you would like to dream about next. This will help the dream to form.

Don't give up. Pretty soon everything will go perfectly and you will get your WILD.

I just realized you were talking about MILD. Well, for that, you don't need to visualize or concentrate on anything. You say your mantra during day and also as falling asleep, untiill you fall asleep. If you lose track of your mantra, no worries, just fall asleep. It should work.

You can add reality checks and daytime awareness to your MILD to make it more potent. That will make it a DILD. Collection of techniques for DILD.

I tried this today for the first time and I know I almost succeeded if I had just had a better environment...I think it's probably well suited to a beginner as well.
