      Random flashback before bed

Just had a random memory from what I assume was last nights dream. I haven't recalled a SINGLE dream since my last post. Genuinely. Anyways, I just remember feeling my throat was clogged up with sand. 3rd person mode looking down my throat and seeing a sea 'anemone'. I think I spelt it right. Then another random fragment of me explaining to.... Someone I think my sister maybe? Telling them to look at their hands. Whilst I was looking at my own. Mega blurry but started focusing and becoming clear. And that's it. Both feel only a few seconds long.

I am EXTREMELY dissapointed in my brains apparent incapability to recall dreams. Maybe it's me. Not unique just my lifestyle. Anyways. Props to EACH AND EVERYONE MEMBER. Each thread and post is a joy to read. Aaaaall categories. I'm a serious lurker here lol. Information overload. Thanks for replys. If any. Peace.

Are you trying to improve your recall by writing down your dreams every morning and every time you wake up during the night? And do you also lie still in your bed in the morning, waiting for some dreams to pop up? You can always try using supplements as a last resort, aswell as setting your alarm during the night when your REM is about to end.

Hey there Don't worry about not recalling your dreams. It WILL get better with time and intent. Just thinking about trying to remember them can boost your dream recall. The more you think about your dreams and give importance to them, the more your brain will pick up on it and remember how much they mean to you. Sooner or later, you will start remembering them more vividly. Cheers!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

I have had a DJ in written form for around 6 months ? An a4 pad which I've filled. I then used the notes on my smartphone. As of last week and from ideas of another member, I now use memory maps. A spidery diagram detailing key elements of said dream. I date these and be as detailed and colourful as I can.

My most recent dream had me screaming in my sisters face that SHE? Is dreaming. I can then remember looking at my own hands and seeing around 10. Like when you get double vision. They were blurry as hell but as I focused they all merged together and became crystal clear. I can also remember thinking at that time that I was stabilising myself? Immediately after that is black.

I am hopeful that its my subconsciousness letting me know I'm edging closer to lucidity.

I honestly feel as though this is a whole part of life SO MANY people miss out on.

      Anyways. Back on topic.
I thoroughly DJ every day and every night before sleeping, I recount my day in my head, as well as any and every dream I can remember ever having; I play them out to their full limit. Like all I can remember of them.

I acquired Vitamin B6. Every 3rd night for 3 weeks I stuffed a 100 mg tablet into a banana. I also drank 2 pint glasses of pure apple juice on said nights. I stopped on the 20th so I'm guessing my brains taking the mick?

I had no results and the moment I'm dejected at failure to recall.
I recall a fragment so tempting I almost wish I didn't remember it.

Apologies for the long read and for any and all who put their time into reading it. It's appreciated.
I will attempt to stay optimistic and hopefully achieve LD soon

My first plan is too create a building stretching through the clouds into near space. Then jump off the top with gravity X10 or something. I don't really wanna NOT hit the bottom. I wish to inflict pain on my body in a way that my real body couldn't handle
My second plan is to ask my subconscious to show me my greatest fear and my greatest fantasy in order.

Peace all, for those in my boat; keep at it. For those well ahead, I envy you. I've even met people who can natural LD. 2 people in fact and they both assumed it was normal for everyone. Nothing special about it. I was peeved.

If you still have trouble with the recall for a while longer, I suggest just giving it a break. Take a day or two to relax and not think about trying to have a lucid dream or trying to remember dreams. Sometimes that could totally do the trick. and great goals btw.

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

Ever optimistic. I awoke around 10 am today. Made my girlfriend Tea, as I was leaving the kitchen I dropped my IPhone 5 on the floor. Literately the next thing I know I shoot up in bed with a VIVID memory of staring in dismay at my broken and shattered phone, I remember obsessing over how I hadn't had it long And the cost of stupidity ect.
My gf confirmed I was up, made tea and dropped my phone.
I sincerely don't remember even gettin back in bed or handing my gf her drink?!

I guess it's better than a blank recall. 2 recalls in 2 days. Woohoo!!
Thanks for all replies And advice, every little helps And it is massively appreciated.
      Sweet dreams one and all!

Dream journaling is a single most important thing you can do to better your recall. That, and thinking about your dreams a lot and appreciate them. Each time you recall a dream, or even a fragment, tell how happy you are to your higher self (your mind). Say something like "Oh, this was cool, thank you. I really like my dreams". Your mind is you and it's always trying to make you happy, so it will do things that make you happy.

On days when you have low recall, you can write in your DJ "My memory is great and my recall is better every day". Kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy, if you will.

If you disappointed in your brain, that's self-fulfilling prophecy too. It's best not to have any negative thoughts.

You will still have days with low/no recall, days with super detailed or foggy dreams, but that's all normal. As long as you DJ and appreciate your dreams, you will be ok. Here is some omore info about what you can write in your DJ to help you find dream signs and all different patterns, and also how to recall your dreams better. Collection of techniques for DILD Happy dreams

And DV being great - it's all because of members like yourself. So thank you

Just wow, I do whizz around this website like I'm addicted. I have 8 bookmarks, 6 being from DV.
I have only started reading and I feel I need to say; although many, many, many members strive to aid fellow dreamers reach a level of awareness unheard of or at least not spoke about openly where I'm from. 5 lines in And I can tell that that thread alone will be a riveting read I WILL read, then re-read that multiple times before tonight's over alone. Looks like Another bookmark hehe.

Once again thank you all, I have no other way of saying it. Although some come across like they desire to help others more so, and with much more detail and experimenting thrown in. I appreciate every snippet of knowledge regarding Lucid Dreaming. For the way I see it, if somebody has done it, they officially have more information on than me.
      Peace and Love All!

Ps. I without a doubt believe in shared dreaming, the human mind I'd capable of SO MUCH already. I'm using something made up of thousands of tiny parts all working together to send invisible data around the world.
When we actually realise the feats our 'brain' has already achieved; a simple shared dream seems so....simple.
Apologies for rambling, it's just no one around me at all apart from a select few seems to even bother thinking about dreams ever.
I get dodgy looks explaining to people the possibilities. Besides, at 60 years old, you'll have slept for 20 ish years. Even 10 minutes of dreaming a night gives you over. 12,000 hours of dreamtime.

For me, sleep is almost life's fast forward button.

      Sorry! G'day all!

I too believe that thinking negatively is one of the main reasons for failing to lucid dream.

Having the right mentality is simply extremely important.

I have a rather chaotic family life, I really really don't remember the last time I awoke without interruption.
I either wake to arguing, music, my dogs barking, phone calls or college. I don't really know If this has any repercussions.
I am absolutely positive my brain knows I want to LD. Some barriers exist though, or I need to improve recall significantly.
I have decreased THC usage this past month or so and I've had a dry dream spell until other day. Hopefully they pick up; or rather, my recall.

On a sidenote. I find it FASCINATING that my brain can store a dream memory and I have no conscious clue it ever existed. Then half way through the day something triggers it and all of a sudden. I have a memory....... Does anyone seriously know how And/or why this happens

If you don't remember something from waking life, for example, what you did yesterday after breakfast, you can backtrace your steps from either now, or the nearest point you remember. It's possible, because there is certain chronological order to the events, and one thing will trigger memory of the other thing. But there has to be a reference point.

But for dreams, you can't do that. They are not in any kind of order. If you don't have a reference point (even a single keyword would do), than you have nothing that could trigger the memory and help you trace your steps through the dream. When you remember your dream suddenly in the middle of the day or even next time you falling asleep, it's usually because you just saw/heard a word, that brings this memory to the surface.

Best time to recall older dreams is on the verge of falling asleep.

That's it exactly! How long have you been LDing? I'm happy I found out at 18 not 60 but I sorta wish I knew years ago, I get the impression a child's imagination is amplified so much more than an adults. My sister seems to remember dreams and many nightmares every other night or so. Maybe adults minds arent carefree and "fill" up too much and don't access or deem dream memory's as viable space and need to direct thoughts to more pressing matters? That sounds weird reading that. I'm absolutely knackered.

My siblings are skeptical of the whole issue really, they dream regularly ish (seem to dream much more than me)
I think I myself am still questioning it, I read that it's so real; the sensations and senses telling or rather tricking you into thinking its real. I ask for my own peace of mind also, is it truly so "real"?

If I was standing atop a skyscraper looking down, will I feel the wind, see and hear the birds, feel the clothes I'm wearing, that stomach wrenching fear and blood pumping, heart feeling ready to literately explode?
The thing is, I am afraid of heights, I wish to conquer that first and foremost before another targets, and I want it to be as real as reality but the only thing is I KNOW I can't be IRL hurt cos I'm dreaming. I want it to be so real that shooting lasers from my hands still hasn't convinced me fully.

I'm sorry if you can't follow this, I emphasise haha.
And many thanks if you took the time to read this.
Please just let me know if it is anywhere near or equal to what we percieve as "real, waking life"
      Peace and sweet dreams all!

How long have you been LDing?
      1 year 22 days

If I was standing atop a skyscraper looking down, will I feel the wind, see and hear the birds, feel the clothes I'm wearing, that stomach wrenching fear and blood pumping, heart feeling ready to literately explode?
The thing is, I am afraid of heights, I wish to conquer that first and foremost before another targets, and I want it to be as real as reality but the only thing is I KNOW I can't be IRL hurt cos I'm dreaming. I want it to be so real that shooting lasers from my hands still hasn't convinced me fully.
I'm also scared of hights. But you may find, that all your fear vanishes as soon as you get lucid. As soon as I'm lucid, I'm either already flying, or throwing myself through the first window I find to go and fly. In one of the recent LDs, I found a tallest building, flew on top and threw myself off. It was AWESOME. I kept saying "faster, faster".

In another one, I flew off the balcony and couldn't keep the height, so dipped to the street level, just a few inches off the ground. It felt like being on a roller-coaster. Awesome.

Another time, I didn't have good control, so I was flying through some bushes. It was at night. I remember leaves hitting me in my face, branches scratching me and me worried about my eyes getting hurt. It was cold, cool air in my face and leaves were moist and cold from the dew.

Stuff you will touch, eat, hear, it all feels as real as in waking life. The textures, the surface of things, the air and wind in your face, your clothes, everything. Your vision may be better than 20/20, as if you had eagle eyes.

Now, you may not feel all of these in every lucid. Some will be more vivid than others. You can make them better by practicing daytime awareness.

Boy, you are in for a treat

Thanks big time for alleviating my fears! I can't wait, I just always suspected it was maybe exaggerated a little. I seem to have progressed from just seeing in dreams to hearing and also very recently feeling, the feeling senses are vague but definitely there. Thank you once again, I have only awoken after 6 hours sleep; ill maybe try to induce a WILD?

      Peace and Love all
