      First lucid dream! (?)

Hey there, I'm new in this forum.
I started to be interested in Lucid Dreaming about a half a year ago, but I didn't really do anything to get moving with it.
About a a week or two ago I saw this forum, which got me all interested again, but this time I said to myself I'm taking this serious.
I started a Dream Journal, did Reality Checks and such, and last night, not by even meaning to get a Lucid Dream or thinking about one, I achieved one.
In the dream I was messing with my computer, and when I tried to watch the time(On the computer) it changed all the time. At first I was annoyned cause I didn't realize whats wrong with my computer, but than it hit me, I was dreaming!
The moment I said "Its a dream!" I was getting a little shiver and things cleared out abit.
I knew I was dreaming, and I think I went lucid, but it didn't really feel right, so to be sure I did some more reality checks. At first I tried to move my hand into a wall, and it didn't work, second I tried to jump and float in the air, which didn't work either, and last I grabbed my nose to see if I can still breathe, and it worked.
The dream were about 3 minutes, it all went in my house, nothing special happend, nothing surreal that I could say "That and that happend while I was dreaming!", it was like I was dreaming but the dream went just like in real life, nothing exciting.

The main thing that bothered me was that it didn't really feel real like I saw everyone else saying, everyone describe it as the most amazing experience they ever had, and that everything felt so real, but to me(Maybe just because I didn't really pay much attention, or because it was my first lucid dream) it felt kinda normal.

Is this case common? I went lucid but still it didn't feel like what I expected it to be.

What do you mean by it felt kinda normal? The excitement mostly comes from the fact that you're realizing that your Dreaming. The feeling of knowing that your in an alternate realm is incredible. Once you begin to mess with things, your level of excitement will definitely rise.
      I Dreamed a Dream
In it, saw people I've never seen
      Gone places I've never been
And done things I'd do again.

Maybe because it felt like nothing happend. I mean, I did became lucid, but still didn't have any ability to do something beyond reality.
When I became lucid of course I was excited, but since nothing happend that really expresses me being lucid, it felt normal.

Congrats on the lucid and welcome to the forum!

Being lucid means being aware that you're dreaming, you might not always have control over the dream. Maybe take a look at this tutorial - Dream Control Tutorial - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views .

      Good luck.

Annoying but not an uncommon occurence, alot of people don't seem to fully understand the concept that they are dreaming when in a lucid dream, as planeswalker said the shear feeling of having everything under you control is enough to get most people excited. It could be because you were doing nothing. In my first lucid dream I was flying and I could see 360 around me, it was magnificent and everything was so amazing just because I knew it was a dream and I had accomplished my goal.
I don't really know how you couldn't enjoy that feeling but maybe it will just take some time, or you just happened to not be fully lucid.
Anyways good luck with lucid dreaming

Congratulations on your first successful attempt at lucidity! that is a huge milestone. Continue keeping a DJ and you will have more without a doubt. Not all lucid dreams are so beautiful and blissful, in fact my first ones tended to be quite boring. I would recommend setting small goals before going to sleep. It doesnt even have to be supernatural. For example, talk to someone, or go on a walk. It will make your dream more accomplished. Flying was challenging for me as well; its easier if you take small steps. Practice jumping as far and high as you can. Then hurdle over obstacles. then try to jump from a cliff, etc. Flying is the most enjoyable lucid experience I have had. Your dream experiences will naturally deepen with time and practice. Good Luck!

      Thanks for the comments!
Next time I'll try setting a minor goal, and hope to get some progress.

Yeah, it is very exciting to get your first lucid dream. A dream come true type of thing.

      Congrats on first lucid dream!
First lucid experience really varies from person to person, some people get full control on first try, some others get low control and low lucidity, etc, but don't worry, lucidity and control improves if you work towards improving it.
And yeah, i agree on the goal suggestion.
