I heard that once... if you ask ''what is my future'' or more specifically ''what college am I going to?'' something or one would tell you in the dream. I haven't tried it because I haven't lucid dreamt... YET

Sorry to burst your bubble but for the most part your dreams won't act as a fortune teller or be very accurate in predicting the future. But some theories point towards dreams giving insight into yourself, if that makes sense, anyways good luck with lucid dreaming and hope you have one soon! --- Crow360

You can ask a dream character anything, and they (might) answer, but you have to remember that anything they say will be generated by YOUR mind. It might help you gain some insight about what you *think* about your future that you don't realize, but won't give you any kind of real accurate prediction.

Yes, you will be able to gain insight in your dreams, be it lucid or non-lucid. But you need to understand that those insight are truly from yourself, your unconscious. So go ahead and ask your questions, I believe someone or something will be able to help you or at least tell you what you truly want. Meanwhile, you can have some fun with interpreting your non-lucid to know more about yourself.

Yeah, i agree with other responses, but on the good side it's possible to try to predict dream's future.

There are some who believe it will in a spiritual or metaphysical way. I don't knock these people but don't share this belief. This should be considered a topic of spirituality relating to lucid dreaming as it only correlates to LD'ing. Does that make sense?

Well yes, technically you can "ask about the future" but you will not actually be told the future. There is nothing to suggest that you can learn of future events just by lucid dreaming.
My Lucid Dreaming Motto - "I have walked upon the the surface of a burning star. Observed events so infinitesimal and instantaneous that they can barely be described as having occurred at all. You... you're just a dream character. And this world's most powerful dream character poses no more threat to me than it's smartest cupcake." - Dr. Manhattan (kinda)

i read something about this. a study done by i think some university in kentucky on dreams being pre-cognitive and i think they said like 30 percent of your dreams are future events. Theres a lot on this, not just spiritual stuff but science. From the little i understand from string theory there are a few interesting facts that help support these kinds of ideas. One that human beings have the ability to alter reality like its a belief among physicists. When humans are around matter, matter goes freaking crazy around us or something like that and just by thinking matter will do something it will do that or the opposite. Consciousness is a Mind F&&& for science. Also Einstein believed that seeing into the future was possible. The techniques he used to figure out relativity and junk should be some credit to this. He would imagine how matter acted. Like he would imagine himself a atom that was approaching the speed of light.String theory now suggests that matter is just information. That has some pretty big implications. SOme say that the universe is just one big internet device and our minds just download consciousness. Im in love with the idea and will remain bias towards it. But if it is information is does the information have anything to do with time. does it hold future events. supposedly matter has no fixed location its just potentially there.Every possibility of where it could be located, it is located there and it isnt. I heard a statement about it. Human beings and all of matter dont exist its just more likely that we will exist. something along those lines. ive had some interesting stuff lately. ive been seeing events in my life happen in dreams then they happen. one time i had a neo experience. i was sitting on a chair talking to my dad and all the sudden it just clicked. i remember thinking he says this then i say that then he says this. and bam he did. it was awesome.

I have yet to have my first lucid dream but I'm pretty well read i believe
As far as I can see there are basically two main perspectives you can have on lucid dreaming.
      1: It's all in your brain/subconsciousness
2: your spirit is visiting other dimensions etc.

I find the spiritual perspective incredible fascinating and intriguing, however I'm not entirely convinced so I'm gonna have to go with the subconsciousness perspective.

If you see it from a spiritual viewpoint I can't see why you shouldn't be able to predict the future.

If you see it from the subconscious viewpoint I can imagine that your subconscious could take some pretty well educated guesses. And you should also take the concept of self fullfilling prophecys into account. If you "see the future" in a dream it is likely to affect your actions thus leading you towards the "future" you saw in the dream. (very short explanation, i know)
Anyway my point is that I don't find it unlikely at all that you would dream something that actually happens to take place in the future. But I don't believe you will actually legitimately predict the future.

@Kellerbustinout: That sounds very interesting and I don't find it hard to believe that there is a lot more to the universe than we give it credit for. I would love some links to that research if you have the time

Do you by any chance have that study? Or a link to somewhere I can read about that?
