Thread: Is it possible to LD when not tired?

I know this sounds like a silly question, and I'm sorry if this is some kind of repost (I've looked around and couldn't find anything), but I was wondering if it was possible to lucid dream without being sleepy. I was thinking maybe in the general direction of WILDs or FILDs.

So tell me: Should I even try? And is there a way to become sleepy enough without making the dream too fuzzy?

Well, you need to fall asleep to dream in the first place but other than that it's actually better to not be tired as you're most likely to end up in REM, that is if you haven't slept well or if you're going to bed for the night.

Dreams are not fuzzy because you're sleepy, there's a bunch of factors like if you're in REM, chemicals in your brain, amount of sleep you've gotten and your ability to recall dreams.

I day dream a lot because I have an active imagination, and then since I'm wide awake it's very simple to participate in the day-dream consciously, sometimes I take it a bit further and daydream about a puzzle I am stuck on in my awake life and try and solve it in my head, I guess that's also a form of intuitive thinking. I have a very active role in my imagination and much control in it, and as a writer I have a habit of always thinking of new stories and ideas, which lends itself greatly to this habit.

So I know it's possible for me at least, though I'm sure I'm not the only one.

If you can fall asleep when not sleepy, than you can WILD.

I take morning naps to WILD. I can't always fall asleep, so then I obviously don't have a lucid dream. But more I'm laying down with intent to relax and WILD, more I can feel my body starting to relax sooner after I lay down.

I fall asleep for my WILD attempts by just relaxing as well, almost always i am awake enough at that point to not be considered 'sleepy' or 'tired', so it's definitely possible.
But as Matte87 said, it's better to not be tired when lucid dreaming, though there's chance to be quite opposite as well, though not for WILDing, really depends on many factors.
For example i had one of my recent lucid dreams with dream control success, which was DILD from failed WILD, when i was quite more sleepy than usual.

This sounds like a really hard thing to get a hang of, but I've been told it's worth it so I'm hoping to stick to it. Any other suggestions?
