Best technique indeed varies from person to person, though generally most of people having their first successes with DILD, i would highly suggest checking out tutorials: Tutorials , and select the one that you find to be most comfortable. But whichever technique you choose, be sure to start the dream journal and start writing/typing your dreams, it helps dream recall and generally increases chance to get lucid, also pick an reality check and start doing it through the day and each time you wake up, though not automatically, but put emotions into them, like "Wow, am i dreaming?" and expect them to actually work. I personally suggest the "looking at hands" one, which seems to be very reliable and can be done pretty much everywhere without anyone noticing much.
Also check out dreamviews academy and it's intro class: Intro Class , which is a good place to start out for people who are new to lucid dreaming.
