Entering the same dream but the second time lucid...

So I've had this certain dream a few times. Either lucid or not. It's basically me in some sort of burtonesque town searching for a "key"

While in my non-lucid version of this dream, the scene is light, the town is vibrant and the towns people chatty and very welcoming. They actually catch my attention to finding this key. I want to say this town is set on the shoreline. there is an endless deep blue ocean that is at the mouth of the town. (I hate water in my dreams, always frightening of what's hidden in there) The people plead with me to solve this mystery in the town by finding the key. They're very helpful....

So now I re-enter this dream in my lucid state. Everything has changed from the cheery colouful town to the dark burtonesqe town. I have this really strong feeling that in my non-lucid state of the dream that they were all setting me up. So I go to question the towns people (who have also transformed into darker characters of themselves from the previous dream) On where the key is, and how I know that their involved with hiding it. They don't tell me anything helpful except for "you think you're awake" then it's like they've been puppets the whole time and just shut down.

So knowing that, I jump into the ocean. and wake up.

I guess I was just wondering if anyone's ever had a dream like this? Im wondering if me trying to figure out the dream by re-entering it lucid has any significance. While lucid I often turn back to this dream to try and find out more. I always get the same response from the towns people.

Hmm I personally haven't had a dream like this where it changes once I get back to it. The only times I reenter the dream lucid are when I have a DEILD, but the dream is just the same. Dunno either why it would do that :<

Have you tried different approaches to the characters? If they repeat the same things, do something else. Burn down a house or something lol. Basically do it different every time so you explore all the possibilities. Like a video game reset

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

I've tried different approaches..this dream in particular always snaps me into lucid dreaming. It starts off the same, fluffy nice dreamy way, then I realize im having deja vu in a dream, then I realize I'm dreaming. Thats when the whole scenery changes into a darker version of the town.

I experienced continued dreams when I was a child and they used to be very interesting, in a nice setting and with an adventurous plot. It ended when I was about 9 years old and I very rarely remembered any dreams since then, too. Since I became interested in LDing, I experienced only one lucid dream re-entry. It wasn't any very special, but it was nice to have 2 LDs during one night (I had even 3 LDs during a night twice).

I tend to not make a big deal from dreams, I can analyze them accordingly to my life. This one is just strange and in a way seems significant if I keep having the same one with the same outcome. I guess paige is right about trying another angle, I'll have to update after I do so.
