Strange thing happened while I was falling asleep

I was falling asleep and was in that state of nothingness, I didn't know I was there, but I wasn't asleep and then all of a sudden, I slowly start to get awareness back and then start to see lines of colours and a sound getting louder and at the time I thought "shit I might be having an OBE" so I just tried to lay there and observe what was going on but it faded
      what actually happened?

(sorry, it's hard to explain and happened a few days ago)

What you're describing sounds a lot like the phenomenon frequently experienced known as hypnotic hallucinations or Hypnagogic hallucinations.
These are thought to be experienced as the body's natural attempt to stay alert, and also a wacky side effect from your brain being so active. Many lucid dreamers welcome these as they are often the hall mark of transitional phases, where one has the opportunity to pull off a clean WILD. Next time I simply suggest allowing yourself to relax and go with it.

Walking through a solid object feels like moving through water,

The key is to realize that you are dreaming and not to be afraid. You have to own it and eliminate boundaries.
