forgetting about lucid dreaming.. and coming back

Well guys, it's been a while. It's nearly a year since I joined this site. Recently I had something weird happen to me- I remembered I hadn't listened to my favourite band, agalloch, in a long time. While listening to them again, memories came crashing back. Beautiful music, deep thought, lucid dreaming, dreamviews, and winter. I remembered walking in a trance, craving the next lucid dream experience, feeling sad for no reason, contemplating life to the extreme. I realised that when winter faded, I slowly let more earthly things take over. I became obsessed with girls, popularity, bodybuilding... I forgot about what once meant so much to me. It all feels like a dream, ironically, one of the dreams I had so long ago, perfectly preserved in my mind. Now the winter is coming back, and I'm coming back as well. I've missed dreamviews and everything that I associated with it, and while this all seems rather dramatic, I am just bewildered that I completely forgot about everything which was so important- my days and nights were taken up thinking about lucid dreaming, and music, and I loved every minute of it. So yeah- I'm back. I wonder what's changed in my absence

I enjoyed your post. Music and lucid dreaming are a major part of my life as well; and Agalloch is fantastic. Welcome back.

      Welcome back

I know how it feels, you can forget about lucid dreaming for a while then the urge hits you again.
So if you've been away for a year quite a lot has happened since this time last year, seems like 2013 has been quite a special one.

Off the top of my head, two of the most exciting things, well at least for me , have been the news that there is going to be a TV show about lucid dreaming called Anamnesis which looks like it'll be really cool, it'll probably cause a surge on the forums too. There's, finally, another good book on lucid dreaming other than just the obvious 'Exploring the World of Lucid Dreams' by Stephen LaBerge, the new one is called 'Are You Dreaming?' by Daniel Love, I wrote a review on it here at DV which you can find if you want to read it *hint*hint* but if you want the short version of the review it is: it's awesome, all lucid dreamers should read it.

Other things that have happened the Remee came, went and didn't make the big splash everyone hoped it would. No surprises there

On the forums, I can't say quite what's changed as I'm new to DV myself, but I've been lucid dreaming for years and years. From what I've read ADA seems to be popular these days, which is a surprise for me as back in the day on older forums ADA used to just be part of what lucid dreamers did and no one ever thought there should be a name for it. Still, if you'd not heard of it ADA is basically 'all day awareness', so yeah, the clue is in the name.

There seems to be loads of little things happening out there too, I've noticed other people making new dream masks and apps and stuff. One i liked was called dreamcatcher, just to record your dreams but it's pretty cool

So yeah, exciting times so you chose a great time to get back into it

That's all I can think off from the top of my head. Did I miss anything anyone?

Thanks for all that, I haven't been away for a year though- about 4 months I think? I remember the anticipation of the Remee and then the disappointment following it.. I have the money to buy one now, but I'm not really interested anymore.
Recording dreams on the other hand... that's some sci fi stuff. I can see many people, not just lucid dreamers, buying it for a novelty- it would really have a big impact!

Thanks buddy, I don't think I want to leave again! Last time I was here you were still called Checker, why'd you change it?

Woah.. maybe there's something about agalloch and lucid dreamers then, normally I can't find anyone who has even heard of them

Exact, you have just read my mind. And yeah, maybe, I find their music so relaxing and beautiful, it's like you fall into a ocean and drown, and you're only focused into it

That is EXACTLY how I think of them as well! Some people get discouraged by the vocals, but I just think everything they've made is perfect and just how you described it

Awesome! And i changed it because of some spiritual discovery and because i wanted to reduce amount of nicknames i use over internet, long story.

I also once wanted to quit, but could not quit lucid dreaming, found a side solution. Few month ago I decided to come back and it feels great, all those feelings all over again
