      Not really strange enough

I have pretty good recall and can remember most of my dreams. The problem I'm finding is that they are too plain for me to notice they're dreams. I don't have any dancing elephants or dinosaurs to make me realize I'm dreaming. Basically they are too possible and potentially truthful that they all feel real. For example, last night I had a dream that my girlfriend was moving. In reality, she's not going anywhere but I justified it in my dream and thought it was true. How can I try to achieve lucidity when my dreams are too "possible" for me to differentiate them from reality?

All I can say is work on dream and waking life awareness and that you're not alone (everyone has average dreams, I have them all the time)

Having normal orderly dreams isn't all that bad and shouldn't be an obstacle to achieving lucidity. For one thing there's a different feel of the dream reality that one learns to recognize over time so that helps even if dreams look exactly like real life. Now, that may be a little hard if it one doesn't have a lot lds to start with, but you can work around this issue. Here's what you can try to do:

      - condition yourself to do extraordinary RCs like telekinesis, flying, etc and know that if this happens it can only be a dream. Repeat to yourself "if I move something with my mind, then I am dreaming"
      - use your intent to induce lds. This is a very strong persistent act of will that you tell yourself before falling asleep that you will recognize this is a dream. You can also use mantras like "I (will) know/recognize/realize that I am dreaming"
      - you can also try to incubate an ld. Simply visualize any scene and pretend that you are becoming lucid, feel the euphoria
      - finally, one of the methods that I find works best is combine the some or all of above with a wbtb. Get 4-6 hrs of sleep, wake up and think that you are going to have an ld. Be sure to be awake enough so that you don't immediately drop off to sleep. Even if it takes a while to fall asleep, be patient and repeat your mantra. WBTBs really do work wonders.

      Good luck!

So you think your dream life is a lot like your waking life? Fantastic! You can use that to your advantage: if you reality check regularly during waking life when you see your girlfriend and or whatever else, you can get into the habit of RCing whenever x happens, and since x happens in both waking and dreaming, someday you are bound to RC in a dream.

You say your dreams are not weird enough because they are like waking life. I think a change in attitude is also needed here: waking life is weird, think about it that way, look for the weird in your everyday life. If you do not see weirdness in life, perhaps you need to improve your awareness because trust me if you do, you will be surprised how much weirdness you will notice. But, you say, that's waking weirdness. I say think about anything weird as an opportunity to question reality.

You have received some great replies. My dreams are also pretty much normal. Raising your daytime awareness will help though. That way you will be more aware in all our dreams, no matter how plain or bizarre.

Doing RCs at random times, not only when something strange/unexpected happens can get you lucid at any moment in a regular dream.

Please check them out and ask your questions.

To be honest, Ryanshep's question is not all that common and I don't think it is really discussed in detail in any tutorial. If you know of one, maybe you could link?

There is nothing wrong with asking questions. Even after reading all the tutorials, there will always be something that needs to be further explained. Often, just reading the same answer, only worded with different words helps someone to understand better. That's why we are here.
