Question My first attempt at lucid dreaming

Okay so, I am very new to this forum and I'd like to say hi to everyone!
I tried the MILD technique on the 19th, and I had no luck, I just woke up at normal time to leave to school.
Then on the 20th (last night) I tried FILD, but here's where it gets a bit weird, I accidentally (somehow) slipped into SP for not moving for too long (Was like 20minutes when I checked my phone for the time), it felt REALLY weird and I didn't expect that, I knew I would see some weird stuff if I opened my eyes,
I couldn't move, I felt really heavy, felt like something was on my chest, and I could hear stuff moving around my room! My heart raced like CRAZY! After a few seconds though it practically scared me awake, which made me sad because I felt so close to a LD.
If I do try the SP method again tonight, how do I transition into a LD? I am very new to this whole concept and I am very intrigued, I have been doing RC's quite often the past two days so hopefuly that will give me some DILD (When I do a RC in my dream because of the habit then I realise it is a dream) LD's I believe it is.
Was I doing this right? I'm not quite sure if SP is the way to LD, and what method should I do as a beginner?
      Thank you very much!

Sleep Paralysis does not guarentee Lucid dreaming and if you get that condition again, the most I can recommend is to relax and try to do a WILD (conscoius slipping into a dream, Start sleeping Lucidly in some cases).

      I googled this thread: http://www.dreamviews.com/dream-cont...cid-dream.html

      Give it a read

Although you may get an occasional SP, they are not related to lucid dreaming. That's why SP is a separate phenomenon, that you are unlikely to get, unless you have an disorder. If it happens next time, you can try getting up from the bed with your dream body, or rolling out of your body.

But your best bet would be to try out some basic, classic techniques, that you will find here Induction Methods and Techniques
I would recommend starting with DILD. That will teach you all you need to know for WILD as well. Good luck and ask if you have any other question.

Okay, so if SP isn't really a good method to LD, what is a good method for beginners? I really have no idea where to start.

It may not be a SP that I'm thinking of, basically I just stayed REALLY still and ignored everything, everything became really weird, felt really heavy.. not sure if I'm doing stuff right :/

It's a common thing connected with SP, and people are scared of it from ancient times even in literature you can find some more or less intentional references to it. So don't worry, it's completely normal as you slowly fall asleep and just focus on the process more than usually. It's also a great occasion to get a lucid dream - just ignore all the unpleasant feelings (remember - you are safe; yet I know this can scare you out of your pants, I expected SP more than once ), however notice them and try not to lose lucidity as you fall asleep. Good luck!

The way lucid dreaming is (in my opinion) is a sleeping meditation. What you ned to do this is maintain a very focussed state of mind whilst at the same time, try to fall asleep.

For this, I'd suggest picking up the habit of:
      - Meditation
      - Focusing on particular aspects of activities during the day

After you can achieve this focused state of mind, practice trying to fall asleep with 1 focal point (more when you get better) and see how that goes. (Usually, my dreams start off in a classroom because I always subconsciously focus on my next day activity so that can help you though, this can lead to ALOT of False awakenings)

After you achieve the above, research into the lucid dreaming methods and see which one resonates more with your dreaming frequency and timings.

      Good luck~

We recommend you start with DILD http://www.dreamviews.com/induction-...cid-dream.html

Yup, these common and normal falling asleep sensations are frequently mislabeled as SP. http://www.dreamviews.com/wake-initi...mystified.html

It's normal to feel all kinds of strange sensations. Body being heavy, floating, movement, sinking, vibrations, images, sounds... These are all signs that your body is getting super relaxed and it's falling asleep.

All you need to start lucid dreaming is a good basic tutorial. Once you have success with that, you can adjust it so it works best for you.

Oh so, what I experienced wasn't SP, but falling asleep? Would this (staying still for awhile and ignoring everything) be a good way to try and lucid dream? Should I use some DILD mantra/RC things like the palm method and then go to sleep by staying still?

I'd use a mantra. But take effort to keep counciousness through all the time. And remember that various methods work for various people - for some begginers DILD is better, others are more succesful with MILD or other stuff. So just keep trying and choose what's best for you.
