It's normal for your first few LDs. The key is to have some intent and take action. If you are too excited, you'll be jolted out the dream. After a few experiences, you'll be able to contain the excitement. But if you just remain calm, the dream narrative stops and fades away. You want to think of a plan beforehand while you're awake. When you become lucid, you want to recall the plan and immediately start doing it. That keeps the dream going and improves your senses. The plan can be very simple. It can start by looking carefully at an object, or touching it, saying something aloud, or performing a few different reality checks. If it's something simple like that, you can practice it while awake. That's called a stabilization routine. When you can do that and have it carry over into the dream, you can move on to a bigger plan like interacting with the dream world, characters, control, etc. |
