Only recalling last dreams to avoid insomnia

Hey guys, last week I had some problems with insomnia, so I decided to take a pause from lucid dreaming and haven't practiced ever since (still had 2 LD's though). The point is that I want to start practicing again, but at the same time I don't want to wake up in the middle of the night and have difficulties falling back asleep!
I noticed something though: whenever I sleep for like the first 6 hours and then wake up from a dream in one of the last REM phases not only do I recall it better, but I also fall asleep more easily afterwards, not to mention that I had most of my LD's in these last phases.

I get to the point: Is it ok if I influence myself to sleep for the first 6 hours and then recall only the last 2 dreams I have (I sleep 7,5/8 hours per night, so that would mean waking up from a dream after 6 hours and then when I get up)? My recall would diminish (only 2 dreams recalled per night), but the quality would increase and, most importantly, I'd avoid insomnia.

What do you guys think? Thanks in advance!

I think that's a good approach. I resolved to do something similar recently: just try to quickly recall during the night if you notice a waking, make mental keyword notes, and get right back to sleep, and only record later in the morning, maybe at the 6hr mark, maybe later when I'm out of bed. Detail definitely suffers but I find I'm usually able to remember at least the highlights of the early morning dreams sometimes. I also tend to have my most aware, vivid, long dreams towards late morning in the 6-7 hr range. After 8 hrs if I force myself back to sleep recall usually is either zero or very very low and the dreams are extremely low awareness. So the 5-7 hr range is the sweet spot for me I think.

When i used to work 17 hour days i would tell myself just to remember my last dream, so i could get more sleep. I still do sometimes and i dont see anything wrong with it

I have had the same problem in the past along with some others here on DV. I wake up naturally after 4-5 hours and have a fairly good recall whether I just woke up from a dream or not. About 1 out of every 5 times I wake to an alert state, I DONT fall back to sleep. I have however discovered by accident last week the DEILD technique. It does not require you to become alert when you wake up, in fact its the opposite ( lay still with your eyes closed and fall back into the dream) I had one last night were i didn’t even wake up from a dream and managed to slip into a LD. Having said that, you may want to consider this technique.
      Good luck !
