      First Lucid dream!! Disappointing...why?

Hi everyone! I had my first lucid dream tonight. It was pretty awesome, but I seriously had imagined it better. I mean, the clarity and focus of the dream was very limited, i had very very little control over it and I even asked myself after awakening if I just had dreamed about having an LD.
Anyway, I dn't mean to criticize anything, just wondering if with time and practice, these LD become more clear and vivid, and I can take more control over them. I also read about stages of lucidity...

      Thanks anyways guys!

Definitely yes. the more lucid dreams the better they get. try looking up on self awareness for more clarity, or demanding the dream to become more clear by saying "clarity now" or asking a DC

      Congrats on that lucid!

It can depend on a few things, such as dream recall or stabilisation. Did you stabilise the dream? With stabilising, you have to ground yourself in the dream. Use senses to immerse yourself in the dream environment and the dreamscape will get more clarity.

Oh, and I've heard of someone licking the ground to stabilise. Sounds fun, right? Heh.

The above posts are true. As you become more experienced in lucid dreaming, your dreams should become more vivid and stable. It's all about practice! Lucid dreaming is a skill and, as with just about any other skill, practice makes nearer perfect! Trust me, I felt the same way in the first lucid dream of my lucid lifestyle timeline. In my second (or was that actually my first? I think it was my second...), I didn't even think to do anything with the lucid dream. I just noted that I was dreaming so I could escape the consequences of something I'd just done in the dream.

So indeed, it may take you a few lucid dreams to get to the really good ones (I'm sort of still waiting to hit a certain level of ability and realism though I've had some that were pretty fun) - but hang in there; because I hear it gets really awesome when you do become an experienced oneironaut!

Congratulations on your first lucid dream!

Yep, I agree with what everybody said, the more you have and the more you practice, the better they'll get. You might want to try ADA or SAT (All Day Awareness and Sporadic Awareness Technique), other than being good for lucidity it also helps with dream vividness. If you want, take a look at this tutorial: http://www.dreamviews.com/induction-...kingyoshi.html

I was grossed out by even putting the tip of my tongue to the carpet. But the effect was great! The dream was about to collapse and I was able to hold on for it some longer thanks to carpet licking.

Congratulations on the first lucid dream.

Don't worry, it comes with time. Lucid dreaming is, after all, a skill. You don't just start playin' some Prokofiev or Sorabji when you start playing piano, y'know.

At this point, growth, if you are truly motivated and willing to learn, is exponential. I'm sure that despite the the feeling of disappointment, there was also a feeling of elation as a result of your success. Take that, pull of more WILDs, MILDs, DILDs, or DEILDS, and practice and hone the essential skills you'll need to master lucid dreaming. Now it's all about mastering dream control, dream stabilization, dream vividness, dream recall (to have even more dreams), you get the point. The best part is that most of these basics tie in with each other. Get really good at stabilization, and you'll likely be great at dream control as well. If you get great vividness, you'll likely be getting excellent dream recall as well.

      Good luck!

my friend had his first lucid dream last night, or this morning. his was also disappointing. he was super tired in his dream and he was in his room and it was dark, he looked around and suddenly his eyes closed and he couldnt open them, then some force began pushing him aggressively and he focused to make it go away. when he opened his eyes he was in real life. moral of the story is keep trying and dont stop, with more practice it gets better. have fun! (in irl and in the dream world!)
also dont get scared about what i just said, my friend is a scardey cat he keeps talking about "im scurred about demons an stuff showin up in my dreams!!" even though i constantly remind him it will only show up if he is scared of it and thinking about it. LDs arent scary!
