People have a lot of different experiences with mirrors in their dreams. It depends on how you feel while your dreaming. If you feel insecure, or if you have a wild imagination your subconsciousness will magnify it. There are times when I don't even have a reflection at all and other times I do. Other times, I'm totally different people, altogether. I would do a reality check when this happens. You know? |

I had a lucid dream where I looked in the mirror and the image I saw was close to my waking self, just a bit off... can't put my finger on it. Like a twin from a different reality. I started playing around with my mirror image, dyeing my hair and stuff like that, customizing my dream body like I wanted it to be. |

“When scholars study a thing, they strive
To kill it first, if its alive;
Then they have the parts and they’ve lost the whole
For the link that’s missing was the living soul.”
― Mephistopheles, Goethe, Faust: First Part
Most of the time when I look down at my body in a dream it is my " dream body ", like perfectly fit and in shape. I think it's because Iv started to regularly exercise. |
Honestly with my Lucid Dreaming experience, I never even looked at my body. I only been lucid for maybe a minute in total. |
I have never been anyone other than myself in dreams. The only thing that changed is my clothes. Though what I look like to others is not how I look to me. The only time that I am aware of this is in pictures or videos. So I see myself differently than what others see constantly. |
The first time I looked at my reflection in a lucid I looked exactly like my waking self, or a least I didn't notice any difference. The second time I did it I looked at my reflection in a glass sliding door and my face and hair were a slightly distorted version, like a different version of my waking self. |
Often it's been my waking self too, but I have had on where I at least partly seemed to have a body that was more like the opposite gender. |
Sometimes in my dreams, I would look in the mirror and see that my eyes are glowing an Ecto Green. Sometimes, I look like I'm about 200 lbs overweight even though I've always been the thin side all my life. Also, I've had dreams where I've looked in the mirror and had an urge to rip off my face to reveal another person underneath. |
Well I have something interesting to share. Despite being born intersexed and very feminine my dreams were one of the first wake up calls to my gender identity. Since little my "dream body" would be completely female all the time and it is to this day. As for appearance, sometimes I look a bit distorted in mirrors, but other times I look pretty normal. It depends on the stablity of the dream, my emotions, and if I'm restful or not. |
As others said, it varies. Usually I look like me or a modified me...one time I looked better than me although similar in appearance...but I thought "cool... the girls will like me!" Other times I was losing my hair or my arm had a huge gouging wound. |
Yeah, it varies for me too. Most of the time I'm myself with some small details that are different like hairstyle. What I find interesting is that often I'm wearing the clothing I went to bed with, the same t-shirt and boxer briefs or whatever. |
I don't look at myself at my dreams. It's looks ugly! |
I have never really been aware of how my "dream body" look like but when I look at my face in mirrors/reflections I tend to look younger. But I have had dreams where I'm a more handsome version of myself and that version tends to be a bit older. |
I have seen myself in a mirror once or twice. Looked kinda similar but didn't get a good view. Once I saw myself sleeping on the bed and I looked spot on, including the clothes I was wearing at that moment. |
In the dream, I often less growth than in real life . It seems to me that I look younger than his years. In the mirror , if I look , the reflection of changing me . One time was LD . I looked in the mirror . In the reflection I grew up a big belly . I looked at myself - and I have exactly a big belly . Reflection changed dreaming body . |
I just looked at myself in a lucid this morning. Had to practice it first, because normally I don't see myself. |
I have lot of observer pov dreams where I don't embody a dream body. I decided to have fun and look at myself in the mirror. I was a white and amethyst luminescent orb. :D |
Hummm I never look like me. |
90% of the time I am not myself, and at least 10% of those times I'm a dude. |
In all my LDs I've never looked in a mirror. I hope I remember to next time. Cheers. |
The first time I became lucid I looked in a mirror and saw a white witch with ugly green and orcish teeth red eyes. I was so scared that I couldn forget it . In my other normal dreams I'm usually someone else |
Most of the time, my dream is from my POV so I don't really get to see me. Sometimes I do, and somtimes I look like like a completely different person, but I know that that is me. |
A good percentage of the time, despite being a first person dream, I still know what I look like from a third person perspective during the dream. I never actually see, but some how I know when I wake up. Usually I look normal. There are a few specific dreams where I don't look normal, once I was abnormally hairy. Other than that, I look completely normal unless I happen to be another person, which happens occasionally. |
I'm pretty consistent with how I look, like a slightly improved version of myself. Though one time I was a cute guy lol. |
