      Damn those half-lucids...

So annoying, I realize that I'm dreaming and can do anything I want, but still doing no RC and losing myself in a dream after a few seconds. Ugh.........

      but still doing no RC
Doing an RC doesn't have anything to do with becoming lucid. It's one of the ways to become lucid, but it's not a requirement. (I often find that I just become lucid without an RC. I just realize that the situation is a dream.) If you know it's a dream while you're dreaming, you're lucid.
If you're having trouble with hanging on to your lucidity, then you need to stabilize it better. When you realize it's a dream, shout, at the top of your lungs. "I'm Dreaming". This will help to affirm the idea in your head that you are dreaming, and you shouldn't forget that as easily.

Generally it is good to repeat "I'm dreaming" in dreams. At least until you get really good. If you keep saying that, it is very hard to forget that you are dreaming.

Also, add some goals for the dream (such as the ToTMs and dares) Because you will be in the dream like, "Okay... I gotta do xxxxxxxx to complete the lucid task" and you will be remember what to do and so, that you are dreaming

Yeah its used to be so annoying when that happened. Make also remembering your dream goal part of your reality check. Everytime you do a reality check remember your dream goal and visualize what you would if it was a dream.

You need to learn to focus better and maintain a higher level of awareness. If you don't pay attention to your dream, it will be gone.

I would count this as a full lucid...?

You were lucid, no doubt about it. Just very short lived.

I believe half-lucid refers to something else.

Same here. I have spontaneous or dream induced lucidity and then do a RC simply to confirm. In fact, if I don't already have an idea that I'm dreaming I will most likely read the RC completely wrong (happened last night in fact!)

Also, I would be very careful about shouting in a dream. I talk in my sleep and once I shouted in a dream for greater clarity and my waking body starting talking and I briefly woke up! Not saying this will happen to everyone, but if you are a sleep walker or sleep talker you need to be aware of these things because REM is your "lightest" sleep and the time when these activities will occur. Needless to say, I never shout anymore. You can get the same results by talking in a normal voice or even whispering. It's all in your head, so use your "indoor voice." lol

Unfortunately, I usually go right into talking to dream characters and it's kinda hard to do both. Especially because dreams are so visual so you start visualizing their words and get wrapped up and lose lucidity! Are you able to talk to dream characters and repeat "I'm dreaming" at the same time? If not, any other advice?

Agreed! In fact, "half-lucid" is not a term I like. I prefer "semi-lucid," although both are cryptic. For me, a semi-lucid dream is when you have awareness that you have control but you don't know why, i.e. you have no idea it's a dream.
