I'd record the dream. Dream recall is the most important thing for Lding. |

Hey all. Quick background. Been interested in lucid dreaming for a while now but am just getting back in to it. Can recall dreams just about every night through the practice of my dream journal and sometimes up to 3 vivid ones on good nights. My question is when I have a very vivid dream and find myself waking up from it in the middle of the night should I look to record it quickly (via phone or journal) or should I focus my efforts on a DEILD? I don't want to forget about it altogether but I feel it's a great time to really go after entering the dream in a lucid state. (Not familiar with my REM cycles) Comments, help or experience appreciated. |

I want something good to die for. To make it beautiful to live.

I would go for a DEILD attempt. I prefer a lucid dream over a recorded nonlucid. You can always write down your nonlucid if your can´t DEILD |

Check your memory, did any suprising event happpen ? does the present make sense ? visualize what you will do when lucid, and how. Reality check as reminder of your intention to lucid dream tonight. Sleep as good as you can; when going to sleep, relax and invite whatever comes with curiosity. Grab your dream journal immediately as you awake and write everything you can recall (if only when you wake up for good). Keep calm, positive and persistent, and don't forget to have fun along the way
What Vagaltone suggests. You will either succeed or fail at the DEILD within seconds. Some of my best LDs have been DEILDs. Would have been a shame to have missed them. |

as the others said, so DEILD if you wake up without moving...as these chances are really rare (waking up without moving), then we shouldn't waste them. but if you have moved too much, then there is no hope for DEILD and you can DJ. |

I suggest that you always go for the DEILD, Flipsid3, for all the reasons already listed. After all, if your DEILD is successful, you'll still have something to record, right? As a matter of fact, if you DEILD back into the dream you just left, you will still be able to record the original dream, but with lucid additions. |

Yes as much of a dream recall fanatic as I am, I'd *totally* go for the DEILD. Getting into a chain of LDs is mind-blowing, it's sort of the reason we do all this dream recall effort to begin with! The stars don't always align for DEILD, if you can have the presence of mind to detect a good opportunity, go for it! There are three possibilities: 1) you fall asleep in to a non-lucid dream (maybe continuing the previous one); 2) you wake up -- just then recall/record your previous dream; 3) you enter a DEILD, party time! |
