Are reality checks really that important?
Reality checks are just a technique used to attained a DILD, just like MILD is.
I would like to try WILD but am kind of afraid for the hallucinations
Hypnagogic hallucinations are not felt by everyone or with the same intensity, and are different from what you'd portrait as a "psychotic episode". WILD is much more like falling asleep than what people make it seem.
Ive been trying over 5 months now without success:
2 Lucid dreams in 5 months is a clear indication you're missing a key ingredient there. Give us as much information as you can and be honest, if you're doing 1 reality check or writing a word in your DJ 2 or 3 times a week you won't be able to attain very good results in lucid dreaming. The good news is that it's perfectly possible to attain a high lucid dreaming frequency with any of the techniques you described above
