I think the main problem as simple as it sounds is the term Lucid Dreaming.
It's inherent in most people to just switch off completely when someone starts talking about there Dreams, so when they hear the words Lucid Dream, to them they just hear Dream and switch off.

They don't realise how realistic and incredible a LD is and how they make you feel, because to them Dreams are nothing more than half forgotten fragments of random imagery.

Change Lucid Dream to I had an out of body experience though, or near death experience (which I believe all to be the same thing) and people are much more curious, they still might not necessarily believe you but you peak some interest at least.

If you only have the skills to do so you can experience anything you can imagine as real.

My idea on this is that so many have forgotten how to dream because we have it so easy with video games. I think its natural for a lot of people to choose the path of least resistance and so easy to just sit in front of a screen and think of nothing at all. Really you can go your whole life and only learn what the media wants you to learn. We are in a dream right now actually. All of this is just a dream. I like that I can say stuff like this and probably not be judged so much as I would other places. Perspective. You gain it and then the pressure of the powers that be force you to view things the way they do again. This has been my experience so far. It's not cool to talk about dreams. I'm sure many of you know what I speak of. I don't feel free to talk about lucid dreaming in every situation. I actually have talked about it with co-workers and they are just so disinterested to learn about something so exciting. There is some kind of stigma attached to this as well. You get labeled. But why? Why do they not want us to have our own dreams? They want control! Control I tell you! Something like that. I think one day the Nazis will return. That is all.

I frequently mention lucid dreaming on Facebook, hoping that someone will react and write something.
I sometimes even describe some of my lucid dreams in great detail, just to make it absolutely crystal clear what they are like.
But for some reason, people never ever comment on it or show the slightest signs that they have even seen the posts (except possibly someone from this forum) - and I make a point of posting these kinds of things when as many of my Friends as possible are logged in.

I think people want results now! Or else you have to be a really special charismatic person to make people believe that they can have something so great. I think we need a great leader to rise up! and speak the truth of lucid dreaming! Making a youtube video describing your experience and linking it to facebook may be a good place to start. In fact can anybody make a good suggestion of a highly motivational lucid dream speaker on youtube right now?(preferably no one trying to sell a stupid mask).

We need a fire. We need passion.

C'mon....if everyone could do it, it wouldnt be as cool. Although not being considered a weirdo would have some advantages....

Lucid dreaming is an idea that requires dedication, and nobody really wants to dedicate their time to that when so many other options are available. In reality lucid dreaming doesn't take long to master. With the right amount of dedication and practice an average person could master a technique in 1 month. The fact is that when people google how to lucid dream, they see how much effort it takes and pass it off as a useless hobby. The combination of misinformation and preoccupation with other activities (such as texting friends or playing video games) really doesn't let lucid dreaming take off like other trends of today.
