      Weird dream, need help lucidity

I was outside playing in the yard then all of a sudden i looked at my arm and it had a cast on it. (i recently got my cast off) so then i went wait a minute.. im dreaming! then i became half lucid and started to try to make fire come out of my hands. it didnt work but then i tried to move the clouds like using the force and it worked! i was hazy and it was kind of like watching my dream though i know i felt a little bit of it. can anyone tell me what this means and what happened? also, how should i obtain lucidity? i just went to sleep very tired and it happened.

That seems like a spontaneous LD. You didn't mention if you were practicing to have an LD, so I'm assuming it came randomly.

What you're describing here sounds like the dream wasn't that vivid, and you were watching the dream in third person. You can make dreams seem more real by consistently writing in your dream journal, and just generally being more aware of your surroundings in general (Try ADA). You can practice becoming lucid by doing regular RC's.

      Good luck!

Your dreams reflect the way you move thru your waking life. when you are all day on "autopilot" means not present in the moment doing what you do but always in your mind and thinking about other stuff so are your dreams. you are just an observer. but when you start being present thru out your day and look around and notice things and be present and not caught up in your thoughts about something in your past or future then your dreams get more vivid present and "lifelike" you will start to act like in waking you will thinking about stuff and notice stuff and make conclusions (maybe based on wrong memory) and therefore rise your chances to get lucid enormous.

Lama referes to this: All day awareness
this indeed makes your dreams more vivid and detailed but with the wrong mindset it does not help to induce lucidity at all

I agree with Relax and Llama, however I will add one more thing... being aware during the day helps dreams to be more vivid but also the other way around. So you should get more into LD!

When a dream feels hazy and you are lucid there is one easy technique that helps a lot... as soon as you become lucid start touching everything around you, feeling textures, temperature, etc. This "ground s" you in the dream and helps it become much more clear and vivid.

Regarding how to have LDs more frequently I will give you one simple technique to start with, it is extremely effective and should get you going within 3 days tops (it is based on DEILD), here it is:

1- Before going to bed spend 3-5 minutes repeating "When I wake up during the night I don't move a muscle or open my eyes" or something similar
2- You will eventually find yourself awake in the night or early morning and will recall this petition, follow it, don't move or open your eyes!
3- Start picturing anything such as your last recalled dream or any setting you want, for example picture yourself walking through a forest, feel the wind, the soil, etc. Make it as real as you can.
4- Once you start seeing what you pictured or any other setting start engaging it... move! touch things!. Once it feels solid enough proceed with whatever you want to do.

Give this a try! It worked for me the first night

I don't even know if my dream was ACTUALLY a lucid dream because I don't ever "feel" the dream. its always just watching it, I cant feel or actually Be me in my dreams. I think a real lucid dream I would actually be able to do these things. any tips for first REAL LDs?

I would work on recall then... get a dream diary and write on it every day if you can. Also affirmations could help, before sleeping repeat to yourself that you want to have more vivid dreams and that you want to remember them.

      Hope this helps,
      JP

Also, there are levels of lucidity... its not a black and white thing, there are many "in betweens"

If already do this stuff then hang on, keep it up... when you have a full blown LD you won't mistake it for anything! You're doing fine, just be patient and it will happen.
