      Issue with FILD

Hey there, i've tried fild several times when i first read about it and it worked ,but not all the times.
Although, the past days i try it alot, it doesnt work anytime.According to the instructions, you must be really tired(I can do that), you should focus on the movement and relaxing(Which i do but i tend to focus too much on details).
In a few words ,my subconscious on my attempts is too busy and it doesnt allow me to sleep.
What can i do about it guys?Should i ust let my mind wander?cuz im trying to resist my thoughts, maybe thats the cause of anxiety while attempting it.
      Any suggestions?Thanks.

There is always an issue with FILD. It's not a good technique.

Yeah for some people it works everytime while others cant do it.Its propably the mind process of each individual.
I just started some trail-error thing for FILD while doing it but i dont know if its gonna help.
Have you tried it ?Did it work for you?

I have tried it but wasn't satisfied with the results. I also would not try to suppress thoughts. Just relax, breathe naturally, and allow the thoughts to go where they will. Just don't follow after them. Using a mantra can help, or also focusing lightly on your breathing, or the sensation of being in your body. If you are committed to FILD, then just be more relaxed about it, with a gentler focus. Also, my signature has tips on getting to sleep in a calmer state of mind.

I doubt you're supposed to suppress your thoughts with FILD. Any time I've done FILD I just try to get some sleep while doing the finger thing.

You shouldn't even be suppressing your thoughts with a method like WILD, the key is to be aware you your thoughts are your thoughts, thus maintaining a kind of state of lucidity.

I've had lots of success with FILD even though I rarely do it. It always freaks me out when I go to do an RC and I'm suddenly dreaming, I just never expect it.

When i made it 3 times i didnt expect it, but since then im kinda always expecting it to happen.
Today i tried it again several times, up to even 3 minutes.I tried to focus just a little on the movement while trying to sleep but not forcing it, i was just chillin.Sometimes i almost lost all my focus but in general i never slept.I dont really know what im doing wrong cuz its supposed to be an easy thing.
Im i too aware of whats goin on?I wanna keep it up but it ruins my dream recall alot.
I can let my thoughts wander but i cant observe them all.So what is best in your opinion?
What you said you never expect it might be the key.

I have read about FILD, but never tried it. Make sure you are doing it properly. You should start movement of your fingers loosely alternating between the fingers as if you are playing the piano and constrict progressively until there is no actual moment just alternating focus and mostly visualization of movement.

While I haven't tried FILD myself, I been coming across it quite a lot recently and I'm a strong believer of synchronicity. I'll definitely be giving it a try because of that. That brings up another topic, belief! No matter what technique you use the more you feel "it works for me" the more likely you are to program yourself to be successful with a certain technique. The opposite is true, perhaps your lack of success is programming you to feel "it doesn't work for me". So, after trying for sufficient amount of time and you are still not lucid, then don't keep on trying the same technique. Try a different technique or try an hour or so later or the following day for better results.

Yep it works well if done right, ill just do what you said.Focusing only on the movement while visualizing it.
Belief...yeah this is true, maybe i deeply think i cant do it.So these two, focusing and believing i can do it.
Thanks man, try it yourself too, you'll end in your bedroom dreaming with a high amount of vividness, looks like real life.

I have been trying FILD as well. I wonder, how do you get rid of trying to force yourself to fall asleep as that is the main problem I have.

hey there, you cant force yourself to fall asleep. All you can do is just chill,if you force it it wont happen. In order to work you have to be really tired.
Although it has worked for me a few times in which i wasnt quite tired what i came to after 2-3 weeks of success and failures is that you should just focus on the movement, just like you focus on a thought and get to sleep without noticing.Being tired makes it alot easier.
If i was a meditator im sure it would be alot easier,so for you i suggest do your daily activities so you make yourself tired for the following night. Before you start just make the intention to fall asleep, then focus on the movement, make it gentle, not much force and rythmic. If it works you will propably hear some noises or see stuff.
Keep on the movement like its a thought, and after a minute or so do a reality check.
Our thoughts, our excitement, the fact that we make things complicated holds us back from working with this technique.
Try what i told you and let me know if it worked for you.Today i almost did it but i wasnt quite tired, and im a stressfull person in general so it's 2 times harder for me.But i still believe i can master it.

I felt my body falling asleep, something like a slipping sensation, and saw some instant images.Anything like that.
But when my attention got there it stopped and ruined the procedure.Other times it happened without noticing it for a while so it continued(a buzzing sound in this case),thats why its important to stay focused on the movement.Im not used to falling asleep while conscious i hope you get what i mean.

Dont worry if it doesnt work the first time ,or even the 10th...everything needs consistency and belief.
If your dream recall is decent, you will have a vivid dream starting from your bedroom, good luck

Yeah but the thing is, I still am too tired to try it when I wake up. What are some ways to make sure I'm not too tired when I do it?

Being tired makes it more easy so its a benefit.Just wake up,focus on the movement and try not to fall asleep just relax. You will be dreaming in seconds.
If you cant stay awake just find a time you're less tired, whatever works for you.
