That's the advice that I've usually seen. Myself, I can't let an alarm go off because that wakes up my husband. Instead I make sure to drink so much water, or tea before going to bed that I wake up during the night to go to the toilet. When I wake up, at 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 o'clock, I either remember a dream, or "feel" that I was dreaming, or not.... In the first two cases I'm sure that I was in REM-sleep. Most of the time I go to the toilet and stay up for a while, and then try WBTB. Sometimes I'm really too tired and just go back to sleep. It's really "Trial and error"!
