I even remembered that a dreamer should look for a "dream-band" in his dream. So I began to look for it but only some rags came up. I tried to keep an eye at my hands. And soon I got cramps in my middle finger - I focused on it and it was a mistake - I woke up
This was about your original post and question. Here is what I am talking about.

on the post that says "DUAL AWARENESS"
As far as the "don't focus on a single thing or you will wake up goes", I would say that if a dream is unstable, there are usually a list of things that are bad to do unless you want to lose it completely. This depends on the dreamer and the dream, but I think that limiting a dream is just limiting yourself. Remember that you can do ANYTHING in a dream, but if right from the start you are saying "I can't focus on one thing without waking myself up." Dreams are just not going to be as fun. You can do anything in a dream, especially something so easy as what you do in non lucids all the time. I often will grab a book, a drink, sit down in a field and read the whole thing. So I don't like the idea of not focusing.
