That's what I don't really like about religious people. They are afraid for the "unknown", even though dreaming is a very natural thing to do.

I totally agree..... but anways, i've never mentioned it to my parents but i'm sure my parents wouldn't understand. My dad might, I guess i've never thought about it.

Hm, apparently I don't know how to quote. sorry!

My parents would think I'm weird.

I told my friends. They were interested for about a month and now they think it's stupid.

I have one friend who does it though. So far he is the only one I know besides me who has had LD's

same here... i think LDing is cool and my dad thinks it has to do with satin and opening up doors (he said the

So what if you know that you're dreaming? You just have more control than when you weren't lucid. Yes, it's true that it opens doors: to good stuff. I like religious stories and things like that. However, I don't really like the "afraid of the unknown" and the strict rules of religion.

I've told my parents a few times that I'm busy trying to get LDs. "So you're really making a study out of this, eh?" was something my mother said to me. She has told me that she had a few LDs in her life. My dad doesn't really care about lucid dreaming, it seems. My friends are really amazed by the lucid dreaming concept. A few of them already had their first LDs. A lot of them are trying it. It's good to see that some people actually care about it. Even though it's not my loss when somebody doesn't want to lucid dream, it's their loss. My brothers don't really seem to care, nor do they want to put any effort in getting lucid dreams. Oh well, their loss.

Im a Christian and i think lucid dreaming is one of the most interesting things in the world!! FYI but not to be a jerk sorry if it seems that way

I told my mum a while ago, but she didnt really say anything about it. My dad says he has had a few dreams where he knows he is dreaming every now and again, but this was before i even knew about LDing. And he also only gets 5-6 hours of sleep a night. wierd?
Also i told my mum that i was doing it to get over my drinking because she found out i was drinking without telling her and i said that lucid dreaming that i had told her about a few times was a way for me to be in a better state of mind, away from my obsessive compulsive disorder without damaging myself. But i told her never to mention any of this to me because i dont express my feelings well. so i dont know what she thinks really.

Only person who knows that I study Lucid Dreaming is my roomie, and he thinks I'm crazy.

My parents would probably think that I'm on drugs, so I just keep it to myself.

They say every time you share some thing sacred with some one, what you shared becomes a a little less sacred. I think it applies for Lucid Dreaming. It is some thing very special that becomes a little less special when you share it with the wrong person. It's different in this forum because we don't judge any one, since we are all after the same objective, which is to lucid dream

^That's a very good point.

But I tell my parents. Every time I get an LD, I share the story with everyone I know, lol.

My bro's in a psycology class, so I always share my dreams with him.
My mom thinks I'm lying, though. =P.

I have talked to my parents about lucid dreaming. I think I was 13 when I asked for "exploring the world of lucid dreaming" by Stephen Laberge. I told them what the whole lucid dreaming was about, my mom just thinks I'm weird. She doesn't mention anyting about it and my dad tries to understand it. I think my mom knows I keep a dream journal but like a Diary I keep it away. The don't put me down. they just think I'm odd thats all

What can they really say in the long run? Don't Lucid Dream! For naturals it's involuntary. It would be foolish for any parent to try and stop you from Dreaming, because it just can't happen.

Boy, I wish I could just tell my parents my natural dreams without them rolling their eyes at me. If I told them I controlled that dream to be like that... To the padded room!

My mum was kinda in disbelief when I told her... although, I don't think she really understood... I'm not going to pretend I tried very hard to make it dazzlingly clear to her...

My dad says he's actually known about lucid dreaming since he was young; he said something about how he'd had to research it in books to find it, 'cos there were no internets back then. I didn't enquire any further; it was kinda surprising.

I can't believe you people's parents are so doubtful about this stuff. I'll tell you how I think you should go about convincing them. Say, "Is it possible to dream and believe that you are in Paris? Is it possible to dream and believe that you are playing hockey? Is it possible to dream and believe that you are dreaming?" Politely demand a straight answer. If they say it is not possible, ask them why that is the one thing you can't believe you are doing in a dream.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?

I would never tell my parents about my interest in LD. My mom would flip and think I was getting into some kind of occult. My dad would just look at me like I'd finally lost all of my mind. I don't even tell most of my friends that I'm trying to do it. I keep it between myself and the dreamers, and I'm content for it to be that way.

I don't tell my mom any of my dreams, but I do tell her that I am trying lucid dreaming. After explaining what it means, I found out that she could do it when she was younger 'naturaly' without any methods! And she still remembers them!

My dad would think we are crazy, so we don't tell him.

When I told my mom about LDs she did'nt beleive me that much but then the next night she tried it and had a lucid dream. Even though she can easily LD, she isnt that interested.

I've talked about lucid dreaming with my Mom, she didn't have any problem with it, she didn't say much because me and my friend were sort of having a bigger conversation about it and she was too busy driving, so that might have been a factor. I haven't mentioned it to my Dad really because I just haven't really felt need or had the opportunity. I doubt that they care that much about it though, it's just another one of my things.

I don't understand why people doubt the idea so much and seem to be a little negative about it. Most of my friends thought it was interesting but didn't really care all that much about trying it, I figure there's nothing to lose except the time when ordinarily I'd be mindlessly catching Zs. The only half-way plausible reason to not lucid dream that one of my friends told me about is that if I died in a lucid dream I could get hurt in reality, but I take this theory with a grain of salt, I've died many times in dreams and suffered no ill effects when morning came. besides it's kinda funny to be scared of death when everyone is bound to do it in this world or the dream one. eh, well.

Well, my mom is highly religious, yet is really interested in my lucid dreams. When I first told her about lucid dreaming (5 or so years ago when I first heard about it on, of all places, TechTV) she was amazed at the concept of realizing that you're in a dream, then having complete control over it. Usually, if my lucid dream lasts more than a few seconds, I'll tell her about it the next day.

My dad, however, shows no interest in lucid dreaming whatsoever. I think I've only mentioned it to him a few times, then gave up talking to him about it. Out of my 3 siblings (1 sister, 2 brothers) only one has put forth any effort to have lucid dreams (and succeeded one time), but that was many years ago, and he has since stopped trying.

I don't really mention these sort of things to my parents. It's not that I don't talk to them, but it's the fact that they don't really care. Or maybe they do, but I find it odd to talk to them about these kind of things.
I talked about it with my mom once, and she didn't really say much.
And I'm afraid of my dad, so yeah.

Mom's a crap dreamer and never pays attention to her dreams, but she doesn't deny LDs. My dad, on the other hand, makes me look like a DC. Skywalker skills.
