      Clarity in my dreams?

I'm kind of getting frusturated at how fuzzy/unvivid my dreams are. Is there any way to improve the clarity of your dreams? Whenever I remember parts of my dream, there's always almost no color/clarity in them- just very feint shades of where my dream was focused. For some reason I think that if the vividness of my dreams go up, so will my chances of being lucid.

Also, during a WILD or VILD, do you try to dream before or during SP? I tried both and it's either I'm not in SP or I'm just too aware. And if I do a WILD when I'm super tired, my mind will most likely go unconcious. Any advice?

edit: also another question.. is there a big difference on dreaming about being lucid and realizing your dreaming? I find the MILD technique not working at all for me because all it does is makes my dreams all about trying to be lucid, but the clarity doesn't increase and I eventually drift off into some other dream plot.

      Hello and welcome to DV!

There are certainly many ways of increasing clarity in a lucid dream. First off, do you keep a dream journal? I've found that that is the #1 tool in increasing the memory of vividness within dreams, as well as helping you become lucid in the future, etc... Also, there are various dream control techniques that you can do that will increase clarity/vividness. For example, rubbing your hands together can help to stabilize the dream, thus increasing vividness.

To answer your question about there being a difference between dreaming about being lucid and actually being lucid - there certainly is. If you are aware you are dreaming then it is a lucid dream, if you dream of lucid dreaming but are still unaware that you are in a dream then it is not a lucid dream.

Hopefully some of this helped Please feel free to let me know if you ever have any questions!

Don't try to dream before or during sp just let it flow. If you were in a rem cycle when you woke up you should be in a rem cycle as soon as you fall asleep. The dream will appear almost as soon as you fall asleep. If you have H.I you can try to move your mind into the imagry. But don't try too hard. All you really have to do in a wild is stay aware of what is happening as you are passing into sleep, the dream just happens. If you are having clarity problems they should be gone if you WIlD . Wild are much more vivid. If it is not make a positive affirmation: Increase clerity, I see clearly. Sometimes I just demand more colors just for the hell of it.

      Good luck

Try getting more sleep. Early dreams are fuzzy, later dreams are much clearer. Are you not getting a full 8 hours each night?

I get around 7 to 8 hours of sleep every night, but I also do WBTB and stay up for around 20-30 minutes.
Well I recently had my first lucid and it certainly felt real as for my senses and stuff, but it was a short lucid and I woke up in the dark so I couldn't really see much.

Does having really good dream recall have anything to do with clarity? I find that I remember my dreams very well, but I never remember if it was vivid or not, I just remember all the details. Does this have anything to do with me having to be more aware?

For lucid dreams, use glasses. It works.

Well, it's time to get some in your dreams! I have a pair of glasses, but I only use them for TV, so I know what you mean. It still works. You understand the concept of glasses, that they improve your vision, which is the main idea. Trust me it works. I summoned a pair by pretending to wipe lenses with my t-shirt, then bringing them to my face. Come on, try it.

Hahah, so I had a lucid recently, and I tried to "Summon" my glasses. I don't even remember if it worked but I remember that I didn't really feel anything when i "took" them out of my pocket and put them on my eyes. I'm still fairly bad at passive control and dream control in general, so next time i'll make sure to make up some weird reason that I have glasses.

I didn't feel anything either. They just appeared! Hmm, you're only reason is to increase clarity. Also, have you tried staring at your hands?

Hmm, well I think I was trying to do forced dream control. There was no real thought process, I just remembered that you said that I should put glasses on, so I reach into my pocket even though there was nothing there and put on invisible glasses, but nothing worked. Next time, I'm going to expect that my friend left his glasses in my drawer (he does that a lot), and when I open my drawer, they'll be there.

I looked at my hands and I had like 10 fingers. My hands seemed very blurry to me also, but I only looked at them for half a second to confirm I was dreaming, along with multiple other reality checks. I basically spent half my dream time doing reality checks lol.

edit: 10 fingers on one hand lol

      Gotchya. That's a good technique. Whatever way works for you, right. :}
Look at them longer! It helps stabilize the dream, while tuning your focus.

Hehe, does your hand go back to normal if you focus on them? I'd find it a little weird/creepy to actually have 10 fingers on one hand and have it seem very real and vivid lol

You need a dream journal. That helps a ton.

Also if you say something like "I will remember my dreams" that should help.

I do have a dream journal It was just odd because this never happens, even before I kept a dream journal.

Haha, good point. Your hand should be normal. Of course it's a possibility, but uh,
you could make it go back to normal if you really dislike it that much. No big deal.
