Question What does food taste like in a Lucid Dream?

Well I just wanted to know if it tastes like real food? So I could gorge on food all night long without gaining weight!!

Pretty much, but there have been times where my sense of taste has been taken away.

I agree with Scarhand. Sometimes LD food is the most amazing food I've ever experienced and sometimes I can't taste anything.

often food will be flavorful, sometimes in unusual ways. however, to me if im hungry in a dream, food is not usually satisfying.

kind of like going to the bathroom in dreams - you still have to go no matter what.

Bugs taste like a semi-hard, soggy cracker.

I don't imagine every single species of insect to taste the same.

Likely not. I will try something else in my next LD and report back.

Maybe that would be a good dieting technique ... lol .... eat junk food all night in dreams and then eat healthy in the daytime. If I can ever obtain control of an LD that will be my first thing to try for.

I agree, it's either exactly what I want to taste, or taste is absent...there's not really an in between. Oh, and to reply to Deegan, you should *never* use the toilet in a dream; those muscles are quite involuntary >_<

it will taste just as you think it will, therefore it can taste better. In my experience, food tastes very realistic in dreams, plus like you said, you dont gain weight, once again, lucid dreaming scores a point on reality!

I had a dream once where I was eating cinnamon cereal and it tasted incredibly realistic. In fact taste was most active sense in the whole dream. So why is it that most dreams limit our sense to sight and hearing?
Sometimes I want to run away

Well, it's easy to remember what something looks or sounds like, but go ahead and try to vividly recall the taste of something without anything reminding you of it...in fact, try it right now. It is a lot harder to "taste" food from thinking about it, while you can start a song in your head or visualize an object in your mind.

When you taste food, about 80% of the sensation is actually smelling it as the more volatile oils and alcohols in the food evaporate up the back of your throat and into your nose, so basically they're one and the same. I'm not really sure why it's hard to remember smells when the sense supposedly has the strongest ties to memories themselves, but this probably makes it harder to reconstruct a sense of smell in your dreams.

I've also noticed touch is usually dampened or absent, especially under my feet.

I have sweets down pretty good. My LD cheese cake is to die for... however taste has also given me one of my worst LD experiences.

I bit into a nice big juicy chicken leg... (bleack I almost want to vomit right now remembering it) and it was a tasteless fat that just stuck with me, and I couldn't get rid of it.

I've never tasted anything like it in the real world, that I can remember anyways.

Yeah food can taste quite real, and inedible objects are open to tasting , there can be some pretty interesting flavors and textures in dream food, it is a very worth while thing to do in a lucid dream, an easy way to get a satifiable lucid dream.

Yea, the other night I was at Burger King (for some odd reason, I never go there), and I had french fries and they tasted exactly like fast food fries! I also ate a piece of pizza as well and it tasted delicious! mmmmm... dream food.

It doesn't have to be a Lucid dream right? I always taste food in all my dreams and it is always accurate.

I cannot taste food, no matter how hard I try. I picked up a cookie in my dream, put it in my mouth and it was hard for me to emulate chewing ...and the cookie crumbled as I haphazardly tried to chew it and it tasted like I was chewing on a cardboard box that was ripped up in small pieces. Since I had such a hard time chewingnand could not swallow, the cardboard crumbles just fell out of my mouth. Still very cool experience. I love lucid dreaming. It is one of my favorite things!!!!
