Reality checks as a stand alone technique?

Would it be suitable to do reality checks as a stand alone technique? Like what if i decided to do 20+ genuine reality checks through out the day, 7 days a week. What i mean by genuine is really questioning if i was dreaming and expecting the RC's to work every time. How would doing something like this stand against working on something like self awareness? Would doing so many reality checks just raise my awareness naturally? I'm sort of interested in doing this. Doing nothing but reality checks like every 10 or so minutes through out the day, for like a week or two, and seeing what happens. I'm wondering if it could produce nightly lucids and maybe even make every dream lucid if i stuck with it for long enough.

The number of reality checks you perform doesn't matter. It's a common mistake to focus a specific amount of RCs or to do them on a schedule because the success of an RC isn't dependent on if you remember to do it in a dream, but how aware you are when you do. The purpose of an RC is to increase mindfulness, not serve as a foolproof test.

How well this work depends on how it would change your habits while you're in bed, which is when your dreams occur.

Strictly relying on RCs is typically categorized under general DILD. They're not really considered their own technique but can certainly produce lucids. There is a method which basically using sporadic awareness throughout the day to induce lucids (I think it's called sporadic awareness technique (SAT) though it may also go by all-day awareness (ADA)). SAT usually uses several 5-10 minute time periods where you really focus on hyper-awareness, though, not just RCs and questioning reality; these are definitely still used in it, however. As you'd expect, doing these techniques or RCs consistently throughout the day will naturally raise your awareness which will, of course, bleed over into your dreams. However, unless you're a natural I don't see just RCs producing very consistent lucids. It may be enough to get nightly once you've done it for a while but I don't know anyone who has had every dream be lucid.

Would it work? Yes, but not as well as doing a full induction technique. Is it suitable? Well, that depends on your ability and commitment. If you put the time and effort into it I definitely think you could be successful with it, but it's up to you to determine if the amount of success you have with it is suitable for you.

I have nearly every dream be lucid through RCs alone, however it is to the point where I perform the RC all day long, including during the night.

Basically, it is a form of making yourself into one huge RC and thus raising awareness, also others who have tried this kind of RC have gotten results too. Be it the breathing technique Nomad (Baron Sameedi) once posted about, the dream feeling that Oreo (No idea his actually username) uses, my gravity RC that Azul got results from too and two people I personally taught here in Mexico, it just depends on how you perform it and how much it relates to your own dreams.
