Question 2- What plans or daily Excercise's did you do? (This includes Techniques, Mantras, Supplements ETC.)

Question 3- Was all of this worth your time in the end?

I don't know what "mastered lucid dreaming" is considered. Personally when I started out I found people that had attained the goals I was looking for and asked them. People like Hukif, Oreo, Sivason, sageous, naiya, iadr, writersblock, ravenknight, Max ツ, and many others.

If you are looking for someone that can LD at will, then I am here. I can LD any night that I sleep enough and will to do it. I normally have about 7 LDs a week, but I have had up to 13 in one night. But those that I mentioned above are at a level above me, but not for long, I felt a breakthrough last month and I lost it because of sleep schedule. Simply put, I hate sleep.

haha, I am not that good. There are lots way better, and lots at my level. I shall answer your questions though. Also, there is no very much "used", I use techniques for lucidity, constant vigilance!

      1) I have hit a stand still for the 6 months that I blame on life circumstances I am currently working and studying, my wife is doing the same, and I have a kid and another one on the way. So other than this last month and a half I haven't been moving forward much. So to my current level about a year and a half. But I have been LDing for about 2 years.

      2) supplements are the devil! I used to do this and still do a version of it when introducing anything new:
      How to effectively Dream Journal
Here is a list of things that I do, my history, my random thoughts, and hypotheses about LDing
      http://www.dreamviews.com/attaining-...ramblings.html

      3) Everyone that I asked has said yes. I do not know, but up to this point I feel like it has been worth it. There are days that I don't feel like LDing is worth it, and even weeks, but when I try a new hobby I do research and if it seems like something that I will like I promise a year to the practice. I am about to start my third year and I will probably decide on another year.

This is quite an exciting development, Sensei! Can you go into more detail on what exactly you do differently on those nights that you "will" to have a LD vs. those that you don't? Does it also involve a different mindset during the day?

Well, you know all of my crazy day training. I am just doing that still, but I lost my night time micros and imagination. I have been working on those again, and I believe that your night time work is more important than your day work. That being said, I feel like the day work cannot be ignored. You might be able to get an LD without day work, but rarely. I feel like it is statistically impossible to LD without night work (intent counts as night work).

Well maybe that's my issue. I'm like 95% day work I feel like. I will set intention to recall dreams & to realize I'm dreaming when I'm dreaming at bed time but very little during the night these days. I just can't bring myself to record in the middle of the night and perhaps therein lies the difference between competition and non-competition times -- competition times always involve very active night work for me. That's got to be a big clue.

Would you be willing to break down what you consider to be night work and what you consider day work. I'm new to this and would just love to have two clear, defined lists of things to work on. Much appreciated

Day work: (self) awareness work, RCs, thinking about lucid dreaming, meditation, visualization, imagination, etc.
Night work: dream recall, MILD, WILD, DEILD, WBTB, basically, finding the willpower to gather awareness and putting your mind on lucidity, when you wake in between dreams.

Didn't you make a thread about mastering dream recall as well?

I answered there and I will answer here as well. And I say again, what's is the point of mastering something? And what is the definition?
If your definition of mastering is to have a lucid dream every night, then I would say that is a contra-productive goal, because no one can lucid dream every night, not because it is impossible, but because there is just no way of predicting what will happen each night. And then you are focusing on something that is out of your control. What you can do and what is within your control is to learn what process of actions that improves your chances of having a lucid dream.

I can say that I am now at a point where I know exactly what actions I need to take in order to almost be certain that I will have a lucid dream.

It took me about 4 years to realize.

And I have tried out most things like writing mantras on paper, setting multiple alarmclocks in the morning with autosnooze, drinking apple juice many nights in a row to notice it's effects, woke up in the middle of the night and then staying up for 90 minutes, and been laying still in my bed for hours to see the effects on my awareness and the list goes on. This is something that most people will do, try out a technique and then because they start to search for a new technique and new complex ideas and so on.

All these experiences was definitely worth my time, because I learn alot about myself, learned new abilities such as patience, relaxation, focusing on longterm processes rather than short-term result etc.

What I do is effective for me because I got experience of it all and I have a really deep understanding of what I am doing.

Which is why the next sextion of this post only should be seen as inspiration and not instruction!

In the day I meditate 20 min to reduce my stress, before going to bed I sometimes like to write a day journal where I write down what have happened during the day. Then I lay on my back and meditate, later on I will wake up and feel uncomfortable and I switch position to my side and then I either enter the dream consciously or atleast more aware. Then I wake up around 90 min after my bedtime because I am more aware of my microawakenings and I get up and write down my dreams. After that I do the same, lay on my back and meditate and then I fall asleep and wake up again and switch position.
I could continue to record my dreams all night, but that would be alot of work so I just fall back to sleep, and I it's possible that I forget some dreams because of this. When I wake up in the morning I get up on the first sound of my alarmclock and I write down the last dream I remember and my day begins.

To summarize what I do in terms of techniques: (WILD - DEILD/DILD - WBTB) - DREAM RECALL

Some nights however I am not in the mood to fall asleep in this manner (after a night out partying for example), so then my only goal is to recall my dreams in the morning, because this reinforce my intent of rembering and being aware of my dreams. (MILD)

Now I am going to sleep. Sweet dreams!

A side note: I would not only gather information from those who Mastered LD as you mentioned. Taking in account the newbies is also valuable information. Remember, the student may also be the teacher one day.

Being said that, here goes for me (no, I am not a newbie)

Question 1- Approximetly how long did it take for you to reach this goal?
      - I was born with the ability but never was able to name it. Pretty much as soon as I learned of it, I can lucid dream if I set myself a good goal and I am motivated.

Question 2- What plans or daily Excercise's did you do? (This includes Techniques, Mantras, Supplements ETC.)
      - My own MILD technique. Make LD part of my life and integrate it in my daily activities. I do dream incubation and set myself aggressive goals. I perform RCs, especially at night (I rarely do during the day, but I think of dreaming.) Never used supplements for dreaming.

Question 3- Was all of this worth your time in the end?
      - Absolutely. Both for fun and for personal growth.

Addition to what MasterMind said, do not aim for 'LD every night' goal, aim for 'raising lucidity high as much as I can'.

Because lucidity is not an item, it's intangible therefore only YOU can raise the lucidity. Lucidity comes from within you, not from others, techniques, DJ, or mumbo jumbo supplements.

By means of 'mastering', I will say that mastering LD is practicing it correctly, and you are at point where you achieved your goal, for now.

Question 1- Approximetly how long did it take for you to reach this goal?

      - Almost 5 years. To be honest I was improperly practicing LD for 4 years, then it took another year to get rid of all negative mindset - fear, doubt, and too much thoughts. So that's very recent that I got out of mind-blocks, probably few months ago.

Question 2- What plans or daily Excercise's did you do? (This includes Techniques, Mantras, Supplements ETC.)

      - I do NOT have any plan. The only thing I do to raise lucidity, is just I simply raise lucidity. There's no 'how'. Everyone has their own way to be lucid in dreams because dreams are personal and can be done only through your own experience. So why beat myself on other people's techniques and rely on tutorials, read lots of threads, while it's actually true that raising lucidity doesn't take any single grain of effort?

Once you know this, you don't need techniques anymore. If you learn them, certainly they are useful but they should not be the main goal because you cannot guarantee you'll be lucid tonight.

For daily exercises, although I don't have any plan to be lucid but I definitely practice something during the day consistently. But this does not mean that I squeeze my head or force to do it when I don't feel like to do. What I do daily:

      1. I try to be comfortable
      2. I try to be comfortable
      3. I try to be comfortable
      4. I don't try to read threads from attaining lucidity forum (I don't wanna fill my head with lies)
      5. ADA, if I feel like to do it
      6. Meditation
      7. Write DJs (only if I feel like to)
      8. RC every time I wake up
      9. Some fun visualizations to be inspired for LDing (again, if I feel like to do it)

I listed these from the most to least important. One of these: meditation, is very crucial. It's optional, but highly recommended. If you practice gaining lucidity without meditation, it's possible that you can be lucid often in LDs, but the possibility is low and it will be very difficult through the journey. Very, very difficult. Because even if you write +100 DJs, RC 20 times a day, find dream signs, you can't be lucid if there's even a tip of doubt is placed in your mind. Through meditation, you release all stress and negative things in the mind, and by focusing on the present, you can be lucid. Lucidity only requires present.

Other than these, I don't do anything, and I try to put effort as least as possible. Sometimes I WILD during the night, but it happens accidentally most of the time, few times I do it with intent.

Question 3- Was all of this worth your time in the end?

I struggled a lot, to get lost of LDs just like how all the newbies wanted to, but I utterly failed and went through a lot of mistakes and lessons learned for years. Yes it was worth it because I found quite many connections to real life lessons with all these failures. I became a better person, and started achieving more things I wanted IRL. Of course my dream life have improved too

So I don't regret, but if I meet someone who just started with LDing or struggles with it, I'd tell him/her right now to leave the forum and work on your own.
My dry spell-LD spikes repeated so many times here, so I decided to leave the forum and worked on my own. Then everything became much better. I don't mean to blame on DV, it's just the community here that naturally makes us so competitive, bearing fear and doubts, too much thoughts and stress, and fill your head with 'this works 100%!!!' techniques which is not true at all, since dream is personal.

Seriously, what works 100% is leaving the forum and fully believe in what would make you lucid, then carry that faith consistently. That's all.

Don't try to get a lucid dream, try to be a lucid person.

I did last night and was rewarded with better than (recently) average recall. No noticed wakings before 6 hours, though, and no recall before 6 hrs, and I tried hard to recall anything previous but got nothing. However I had a long dozing period after that where I accumulated a bunch more dreams up to about 10 hrs.

I (and the community!) still want the details of what's different on your "will to LD" nights....!

Anything different in the day work other than incubating "I'm dreaming" 1000 times per hour ?
