      Eyes slowly open :(

When I am attempting a WILD, i would lay motionless for as long as possible but sometimes my eyes keep slowly opening and it ruins everything this is getting very frustrating because last night i layed still for what turned out to be about 30-45 mins and then I started to see images appearing and my mind was thinking {This is it your experiencing your first LD!!!} i saw what looked like a birds eye view of a big stadium, but then it turned out my eyes where just opening and i was looking out the doorway and the little light that was out there looked like a stadium...

Please if anyone knows how I could stop my eyes from opening or if anybody else has the same problem PLEASE POST, this has happened for about the last 3 or 4 attempts of a WILD and I am getting desperate for it to stop... I am still yet to experience a Lucid dream for the first time.

I just cover my eyes with something, or try to make the room dark as possible.

This always happens to me, too! Although, it doesn't necessarily impede my ability to WILD; my room is pitch black and so my eyes aren't distracted even though they do open slowly.

If it's really bugging you, I suggest getting a sleep mask - the slight pressure of the mask on your eyes, as I've heard, can help stop your eyelids from slowly opening.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

What does this have to do with anything?

EDIT: Now you put a picture in it.

Ok thanks Demara, my brother sleeps in the room next to me and he has his TV up loud when im tryin to sleep so thats another distraction and also another reason for me to use the WBTB and the the WILD tech.

I will try to have a pitch black room and tell my brother to turn his tv down

      I guess I'm part of this thread since it always happens to me. I'm always extremly excited when I start to see some Dreamscape and then I realize it's just my Window and I'm like FUCK! I opened my eyes ;_;

where possible, try and keep your room as dark as possible. I use a pillow over my eyes as I tend to sleep with eyes half open (this is creepy to most people who have witnessed my sleeping)

Try and remain calm, also make sure that you are in a dream, not in hypnagogic imagery.
If you wait, Dream images will start to form. You can go with these images and enter a LD.

hang in there, & keeping trying.

Think this is the best way seeing as trying to jam your eyes closed only makes things worse. Plus even if your eyes do open slightly you wont notice any light

I've had this problem before, and for about a month it became an issue even when I was trying to normally go to sleep. For me, I think it was caused by trying to "see through" my eyes too much, focusing too hard on trying to see imagery instead of just letting it come naturally.

As far as I know, stopping it is just a matter of learning to let your eyes relax and to focus your attention elsewhere. Otherwise, as has been suggested, a sleep mask should work fine.

Well, there's a lot of things you can do. Recite a song or mantra in your head, concentrate on breathing, anything you can think of really.

Finally, while it's true you shouldn't focus on your eyes, you can still somewhat focus on the imagery you're seeing: passively observe what you see, but don't try to force anything. This is easier said than done, but with practice you should be fine. Try looking up the many WILD tutorials on here, they should give more in-depth advice on how to "passively see" hypnagogic imagery.

Well I had the same problem, but this is what I usually, one of the main problem areas is my forhead I usually don't even notice how tensed is so -
      1. Try to relax your forehead after a while you will fell the skin sort of "slide" down a bit, it should stop the lid from opening.
I have noticed that if I trail the HI with my pupil I usually end up seeing my room.
2.Try to lie down in a comfortable position, it doesen't obligatory has to be your back your sleeping on. I find it much easyer to sleep sidewards.
3.And yes as Wildman wisely suggested try not to focus on it at all.
      This helps for me.

Exact same thing happens to me usually. I get excited when I think I'm viewing a hazy dreamscape but it's only my eyes slightly opening.
