Avoid the "Can't do" mindset. To lucid dream you have to truly believe you are going to do so. A positive mindset goes miles towards your goal of a lucid a night!

      Good luck!

I tried to nap. Was 100% convinced I would. An hour later, still awake, and feeling like crap.

      Excellent mike!

Remember to schedule the alarm at the right time. I've miscalculated in the past =D

Good luck, and read up on the various techniques, to ensure your success!

      peace,

Try to cause your body clock to activate at a certain time. If you continue to use the alarm, soon you'll find yourself waking up just before it goes off.

I know two people that have had successful alternate lives. It's really amazing how they do it. They create amazing stories from their dreams as well! I curious how to create an alternate life, I don't think it would be boring because the mind is ever changing, and the only limitations is one's self. If one keeps filling the mind with new information (easy with the internet) they can always dream of something new.

Great News everyone, my lucid dream attempt worked
I will count this as my first attempt because my actual first attempt failed to wake me up

      On "escapism":

We must first ask ourselves the question: What is reality?

Then, we must ask ourselves the question: What is escaping from reality?

Here are some other questions that branch off from these two:

      Are dreams real?

Can we run escape unwanted dreams by staying awake too long?

What can we escape into? Work? Hobbies? Another person?

What is the opposite of escaping?

      ***

Yes, you can live a second life in dreams. I have a theory that we all do unknowingly, and lucid dreaming is a path to accessing awareness of our dream selves' journey.

I do live a second life in dreams. I did not do this deliberately, I discovered it.

I discovered I met Man of Shred and Raven Knight many years ago on the dream plane. I discovered my Beast Self and Shadow Self. I discovered I married the Moon goddess in the dream plane.

Yes, you can live a second life in dreams. I have no idea how it could be conceived of as boring.

Whenever obsession with anything sets in, we must look ourselves in the mirror, and ask ourselves if we are escaping something important. I have wrestled with this question many times regarding lucid dreaming.

At a point when I felt I was escaping into dreams, and neglecting my waking life, I asked my dream guide how to use dreams to alter my waking life. He spoke to me of a simple meditation. Since then, I have improved my waking life. I have literally met the woman of my dreams. I have consulted with various entities for advice for waking life. I say this not to brag, but to show others what they can do.

I believe we can use our dream goal setting ability as waking life setting ability, for goal setting and achieving is one and the same. It all starts in The Mind.

Congrats! Only two attempts, and you got it. I see a bright future here; you LD'd very fast compared to most.

      How was it?

Early start... I like it. Keep at it, it will be much easier later if you practice.

I mean, its not like I'm 'running away' from life; it's just that, we spend a lot of time sleeping, so why not have a second life that is... well, quite frankly, better.
Wish i had some decent control over my LDs so i could do this. I will try when i start up LDing again over summer vacation.

An interesting post on living a second life in dreams - or, on discovering your second life in dreams, as opposed to trying to create one.
