      Success!

I just had my first ld last night using FILD! I just have a quick question. After I did a couple reallity checks, everything went black and I woke up. Why is that happening?

Congrats! You probably got overexcited at the prospect of being in a dream and woke up. Eventually that massive surge of excitement will become lesser upon attaining lucidity, then you should be fine and not wake up.
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

      Congratulations!

A good way to stop that from happening is to stabilize the dream as soon as possible. Rub your hands together or focus on an object in the dream until everything is really vivid.

I didn't even have to set my alarm, I usually wake up right after a dream.

I feel like FILD would not really work for me. My dreams are random they are not usually like FA's
