Come, thick night,
And pall thee in the dunnest smoke of hell,
That my keen knife see not the wound it makes,
Nor heaven peep through the blanket of the dark,
To cry, 'Hold, hold!'
-- Macbeth, 1. 5
When I had my 1.5 LDs recently, they were both at different times, after different amounts of sleep, but both WBTB. You could try both ways, if it seems you are having success with forcing an image, then keep trying that to create a dream scene for yourself. And if that doesn't seem to be helping you get lucid, perhaps just try to let your mind be free after you've woken up, gotten water and go back to bed, don't force anything, but allow your mind to wander, feel heavy, watch the black screen behind your eyes. |

WBTBs are really really effective when you stay for about an hour. Stephen LaBerge did studies and found that (don't quote me on this) staying up for an hour increases you chances of a ld by like 50%. i don't remember exactly the number but it is really good. nevertheless, 5 minutes beats not at all if you don't want to stay up. |

Nothing is difficult in a dream, its all in your head.
Or you can just combine WILD and WBTB if you don't wanna stay up for 1hr. |

It sounds like you induced your dream after the WBTB. Also a WBTB doesn't have to be an hour long, it's very hard to fall back asleep then unless you're extremely tired. 20-30 minutes is what I go for. Also the chances of getting lucid increases like 20 times from what I've read. From what I've experienced it increases atleast 5 times. |
