      Books about psychic abilities?

Skeptics, exit this thread. I will not discuss psychic powers with you.

Hello, I've been wanting to get a book(s) about how to develop psychic abilities for a while. Does anyone here know of any good book to start with? I was thinking of getting "Psychic development for beginners" by William Hewitt. Is that something that's worth buying?

      Euclid's Elements, The Works of Plato, and craft . . . .
Perhaps I am confused, there are mental abilities, but what is a psychic ability? Is there somehow a claim that we have two distinct minds?

Another thing that confuses me, although there are books about the eyes, and sight, how to improve them and all, one has never needed one to see. Same with hearing, handling, walking, eating, etc. What kind of book you looking for, one that teaches health of a particular system, or one that convinces you that you got it?

The celestine prophecy by James Redfield is my all time favorite book for beginners for a myriad of reasons. It's a very interesting story, so it is a quick and painless read. It's a very short book, so it's a quick and painless read. The information helps with primarily recognizning there is a human energy field and the complexities in it's relationships with other human energy fields. It also helps with recognizing the methods of consumption used by psychic vampires.

Next I would recomend all the works of Carlos Castaneda. They take you on an amazing ride, and the knowledge you can walk away with is nothing short of life changing.

Lastly I would like to ask you a question. What do you mean when you say psychic abilities? It's a rather broad stroke of the paint brush if you will, and there is quite a bit that could be assumed, but rather than do that, I would rather you narrow it down a bit.

See if you have any latent psychic ability and think of how to develope it, then go for a book
      Are you dreaming?

I personally have no information on this area. Uri Gellar I guess, of course a lot of people say he is a fraud, and there was that debacle on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson years back, still, Uri Gellar went to a whole slew of laboritories back in the 70's and a lot of scientists tested him and proclaimed him legit. Thing is, slight of hand can fool even scientists some times. On top of all that, the guy was claiming to get his abilities from aliens back in Israel, and a scientist who went over to investigate the matter gave very convincing experiential details regarding that. So on top of everythings is, even if the guy was legit,,,,,,,,,,,, apparently you'd have to flag a ufo down to hook you up so to speak.

How about another question. Why telekenisis?
I mean of the areas to devolop your self psychicly, this has got to be one of the toughest. I mean, if one ina million could do it, they would have to close down all roullete tables in the casinoes acrosss the world, and we don't see that happening.
There are a lot of things psychicly to discover about yourself, and discovering yourself in my opinion is the greatest undertaking one could take. Understanding your soul, and energy associated with it traversing through your self would be I would think the best place to start.
      Good Luck

Yeah, I heard about Uri Geller's failure at the Tonight Show. My guess was concentration issues, but it could've been something else. As for psychokinesis, I just threw it out there randomly. I said abilities "like" psychokinesis, as I don't know which ability you should "start" with. I don't have any experience with any psychic ability so far, but I can understand it being tricky to master PK. I know you should start with tiny objects, like a "psi wheel" and from there try to affect bigger objects. Any idea on what's the easiest psychic skill to start with?

      That link didn't work btw.

It might not have worked cause it's a deep dreaming thread and you need to ask for permision to join the deep dreaming thing. Just ask em, there pretty cool. I just right clicked it and opened it in a new window and it worked fine for me.

I really gotta say. I'm from the old school camp of know thy self.
First off,,,, I gotta say,,,, manipulating the human energy field feels pretty psychic to me. I know it sounds silly, but Tai Chi,,,,, when you start doing it proficiently, your fingers feel like they are moving through a viscous liquid. This movement strengthens your field for other endeavors in this area.
Carlos Castaneda goes on about this in length in a few of his books, and refers to it as non-doing. As a side note, this is supposed to strengthen your dreaming body as well.
Carlos goes on to give instructions on meditating with your eyes open, strengthening your third eye for being able to see things of a less physical nature.
      Good Luck

Psychic Power and Soul Consciousness: The Metaphysics of Personal Growth, by Korra Deaver. I was reading through this book over the summer, and it gives you exercises to put its content into practice. I'd say its a must because of the way its explained and also because of the topics the author included.
