Chinese Astrology!! How do you like it?

How do you like Chinese astrology? What's been your experience with it?

I've read and heard that Chinese astrology is fairly accurate. My sister just bought a year of the rabbit book. But the personality part of my sign didn't fit as much as I would like . I'm a rat. But I'm not half as social as the book says I'm supposed to be, and I can careless about gossiping or being the leader of any group. I'm also not nearly as financially successful as a rat is supposed to be.

But the rest of the rat part looked good, that is, what should a little rat look out for the coming year!

I've tried looking online but every website just has the same information as the last. Where can someone find real authentic information about Chinese Astrology? I wouldn't mind giving Chinese Astrology another chance, if I can find a source that makes my personality fit!

      Chinese Horoscopes - The Monkey

I find this to be about 90% accurate. The only major difference is social activity level.

I'm a metal cock. Apparently, I'm a pretty big dick so it must be accurate.

You seriously think that everybody born within the same year has the same personality characteristics? Seriously? Did you think critically about this for even a second?

Actually, what I was thinking was, if there is a claim, then I want to know more about the sources of that claim. I've heard from different sources that chinese astrology was accurate. So I wanted to know what was DVs experience with chinese astrology and if members here found it accurate or not.

I'm not gonna pretend to have explanations for why it would be accurate in the face of western science. But if it turns out it is accurate despite western science, then I want to know more about it.

      AT HOME WITH THE ROOSTER

As proud as they are of themselves, you can only imagine how they are about their homes. Roosters put a lot of effort into their homes as they reflect the Roosters assets and taste. They are very neat and clean and have everything in its own specific place. They make a chore out of cleaning out drawers and closets with a knack for rearranging them better and better each time they attempt it. This habit is enough to drive anyone berserk, but a Rooster’s family understands his need for a dramatic appearance.
Applied to me, this is one of the funniest things that I have ever read. When I had a place on the mainland with all my stuff, you couldn't navigate through my room without tripping over a pile of books and papers. There were clothes all over the place. My girlfriends finally trained me to make sure that the bed wasn't covered with books when they came over. This is serious rofl material.

What is the point of astrology anyway? To tell you what your personality is? I never got it to be honest. Why can't everyone just figure this out for themself? And yes, this is a serious question.

I think the psycological characteristics is more accurate.

This Rooster is a bit more docile than the other Roosters. He is quieter, more tranquil, not as vocal or as spotlight hungry as other Roosters. These Roosters are great communicators probably because they do possess the ability to tone things down a bit. They have boundless energy that sometimes gets caught up in detail which causes a lapse in concentration. They have to learn to appreciate detail but not to harp on it, otherwise they may miss the final destination.

      seems pretty accurate....

From what I got from the Year of the Rabbit book, astrology carries the belief that certain opportunities in your life open up to you based on heavenly activities. So its not so much about your personality, as it is looking out for opportunities. While other activities during this time should be avoided. For example, for the Year of the Rabbit, I should be careful with how I spend my money, especially if I'm moving (which I am). I should seek out a career change or learn a new skill (which I am). I should be quick to take on a new job opportunity, even if it is training. All in all, a good year to learn something new and make more money.

Before reading the book, I knew I needed more job training, specifically in the horticulture-growing field. I want to be a grower!

I don't really understand it, to be honest. But I do know that it isn't everyone in the same year. Each year is also one of the five elements, but I never did understand the Chinese five elements either with wood and metal. Also each year is split further, but I don't know much about it. I should research it. To tell you the truth, I don't really like Chinese astrology. The zodiacal astrology makes much more sense since at least every single person is unique in that system.

Or maybe it shouldn't be called astrology because it doesn't seem to be based on the stars or planets at all. When I said I liked the zodiacal astrology better above I meant the one with capricorn, aries, taurus, gemini, etc..

      You went to school, right?

And at school, the majority of people were born within the same year, right?

Is it your recollection that everybody in your year at school had the same personality, and everybody in the years above and below had a totally different personality?

No? Then congratulations, you have disproved something via personal observation and critical thinking, quod erat demonstradum, welcome to the wonderful world of empiricism and rationalism (i.e. the real one).

I have researched a little about Chinese astrology since my last post and I found out that my, and Xei's perception of it is wrong. Every year has a general influence, this is true, but, it IS also based on the stars at the time of birth and the planets and so each person is unique just like in Western Astrology. Those place mats in Chinese restaurants gave me a false impression of Chinese astrology. It is quite a complicated system.

Somebody who is born in a certain year for example wooden dragon that does not signify his personal horoscope.
That tupe of informations coming by western rubbish.
One of the traditions that chinese use is this.

      # # (Mental)
      # # (Sentimental)
      # # (Self)
      # # (sexual)

Now every tile is composed by two elements.the second from the bottom shows the persons nature.
So for example one person in this Tile: ## (self).the left can be water and the right gold, two elements in harmony so there is not a lot of conflict to the self.
Also chinese systems are composed by more houses then the modern lets say Hellenistic one(12 houses) to 28,36 some sytems like tibetan maybe even more.
Also chinese astrology uses even more techinques which im not going to bother to mention to describe a person.making her an excellent choice (excellent but diffucult to learn and to find somebody to teach you.) for psychographs.
So if you want you can go ahead and tell a chinese astrologer that you are golden tiger and i bet hes gonna take that smile which you can't say if hes smiling or laughing at you.
