Do you believe some people have powers?

My sister has the power to sense the dead. My friend can make plants grow faster then normally. My brother can astro project himself. My brother dreamt he was jumping off his school over and over again. He woke up with bruises all over his body. He doesn't sleep walk. He just lays there sleeping. I have no power. Well, Buzz Lightyear thought that he had powers. So I guess the answer is yes.

Maybe, maybe not. The idea of powers makes one seem unique, which is a no-no since we are all human. I have my own theories. One theory has to do with parallel universes. Basically, you can relay information to yourself from the future/past. Due to the infinite probabilities, it helps explain sixth sense like when you know someone behind you is looking at you. The reason is because in one parallel universe you were looking at that individual and saw him or her looking at you etc., which you relayed that information to yourself in a universe where your back is turned to that individual. Essentially, you could focus on something to relay to yourself in the future or the past. A way to test the theory is relaying a major lottery number. How exactly to do that with precision is the question. Ironically, if true, groups like the Freemasons' would be able to pull information from as far back as Nostradamus' or further. It would depend on when the group was formed because the foundation is ground zero for knowledge. This would explain where premonitions come from and many other things. It doesn't address dimensions(planes), but could be inclusive by comparing the concept of dimensions and parallel universes like a "x", "y", "z" graph. Interestingly, it would make spirituality tangible. Each individual would be ubiquitous.

See, I don't believe that "some" people have powers. The way I see it, either nobody has these powers, or they're available to anyone who wants to cultivate them. The idea that special powers are reserved for a rare few that are born with them seems absurd. And self-defeating, on my part. I clearly don't have any of these supposed powers, so if I believe they're limited to the few, that's a dead end for me. Certainly, some people may have special talents in certain areas, but they are things that anyone can do. At least, I would like to believe so.

The idea that special powers are reserved for a rare few that are born with them seems absurd. And self-defeating, on my part. I clearly don't have any of these supposed powers, so if I believe they're limited to the few, that's a dead end for me. Certainly, some people may have special talents in certain areas, but they are things that anyone can do. At least, I would like to believe so. Anybody can develop them. Of course, some are more talented than others in some areas. Some people are very good musicians, even though anybody can learn. Some people are genius in a certain area. Einstein can be said to have powers of the intellect.

I'd say a-nope. Interestingly, people have thought themselves and one another to have special "powers" for thousands of years, and yet, we have yet to get one reading under a set of reasonable experimental conditions. Things where other variables have been removed as best as possible. Your friend with the plants, for example, could be that he/she simply has a green thumb, or uses a certain kind of fertilizer, or just waters them regularly. Astro projection...is not the most reliable claim ever, though not impossible. Sensing the dead could come from any number of clues from one's surroundings. After all, it isn't commonplace to find dead things where they shouldn't be. You're not going to have a corpse in your kitchen without some major tip-offs. Bruises can crop up from what we perceive to be casual bumps, and people with iron deficiency (I think) tend to bruise more easily and severely. I would call these coincidences more than anything else. And for people in general, I remain skeptical. Until I see people walking down the street lighting tea candles with their minds, I won't exactly be inclined to believe.

I'm working on believing two opposing viewpoints at once: that people do have psychic powers, and that they are untested, unlikely, and almost assuredly non-existent. Because the first one is so much fun, you see.

I believe there is a higher power within ALL humans, we have not tapped into yet because we are manipulated from birth to think we are weak and need technology to become strong, I disagree, I think the human power ALONE without gadgets is incredibly powerful and extremely underestimated. This whole idea that we need to implant technology into our bodies to become 'superior' troubles me alot. We have such a spirit within all of us, it is capable of incredibly evil and good things.

I think everyone has a power, not necessairly odd, or seemingly impossible, and sometimes the power can seem normal. Sometimes the power itself seems unique, but since everyone has a ‘power’ (I put it in inverted commas because it's not necessarily supernatural), it is part of us. So @ LunaLoveGood, you may have a power, just not discovered yet.

I think I have latent super powers. I'm hoping for teleportation, but that's probably wishful thinking. Still, I can't think of a single power that would suck. Even just regular heat vision, Superman's worst power, would be fucking awesome.
