I became interested in lucid dreaming in April. I haven't had any since then, but I can recall a few from years ago. Right now, I'm working on recall and vividness, which have been significant stumbling blocks for me. I don't have many dream signs, as my dreams tend to vary quite wildly, but I'll list the few I have.

Dream Signs

- Rebelling against and/or being pursued by an oppressive organization

- Being an entirely different person

- Dead loved ones being present with my knowledge that they should be dead

- Losing teeth

Reality Checks

- Trying to inhale through a blocked nose

- Trying to push my finger through my opposite palm

- Checking the number of fingers on my hand (with a failsafe of verifying that that number matches the number of sides on a pentagon)

Short-Term Goals

- Improve recall (I have next to none at the moment)

- Improve vividness (Right now, it feels like I'm interacting with my dream world while under heavy sedation

I think that improving my overall awareness will be essential to both these things, and I'm trying to improve my working memory while waking.

Long-Term Goals

- Being able to DILD dependably

- Dilating time

- Improving skills

I've remembered another dream sign. I'm often away from home and without shoes. It falls into the nightmares that I sometimes have.

Lucid dreaming might help you face those nightmare elements.

I like the setup for your workbook! You really put some good thought into that!

For recall, write down every dream, even if it seems insignificant or tiny. It really improves recall. When you wake, spend a little time keeping your eyes closed and think about your dreams. Then write them down with as much detail as you can remember.

If you get busy, write down keywords and short phrases to help you remember the elements of the dream later.

Lucidity will come!

Interesting with the shoe thing Hobo, I remember you mentioning that in chat too. How does that relate to the nightmare where you're away from home, I'm curious?

I remembered another dream sign. I haven't recalled it happening in a while, but it used to be that my most common dream element was being in almost complete darkness, with no way to illuminate my environment. It was never really scary, just annoying. To answer your question, Ophelia, being away from home without shoes constitutes a nightmare for me because it's always accompanied by judgement from DCs for forgetting them, i.e. not being prepared, having no foresight, etc. Kind of a variation on the "naked at school" archetype.
