      sprada's Workbook

      Reality Checks:
      - Counting fingers
      - Checking hands, and pushing fingers through palms
      - Pinching nose and trying to breathe
      - Trying to remember my last 30min / 60min

      Dream Signs:
      - I don't really know yet. I do know that I dream with water every single time I drink (not that often )
      - My friends always show up in my dreams (not sure if it counts as a sign)
      -

      Short-Term Goals:
      - Being Lucid!!
      -
      -

      Long-Term Goals:
      - Have fun!!
      - I want to talk to myself. Understand myself.
      -

      Lucid/Dream Recall History:
      - I think I can remember my dreams (non-lucid) pretty easilly

      Current Technique:
      - DILD. Although I try and visualize my dreams and repeat some mantras before sleep.

On the week days I don't think I'm having an adequate amount of sleep. I can still remember (at least) one or two dreams a night. Today I went to bed at 01:00, set up a timer for 05:00, 06:00 and 07:00 and remembered a different dream (fragments of a bigger dream I guess) every time.

Welcome to the class Sprada! (I love the Stewie avatar btw). Sorry I missed your workbook amidst the others.

I'm glad you got a great dream journal going already. I laughed at the cat poop one So, DILD and setting your alarm for WBTB is a great start, especially in conjunction with your growing dream recall. How has it been going for you so far?

      Hey Ophelia!
I'm afraid it's not going that well.
I've been reading like crazy, doing RC (using an android app that's randomly triggering alarms all day - Awoken) and really trying on developing awareness. It's hard.
Not sure if somehow I'm making mistakes that are preventing me to achieve Lucidity or part of it.
One thing I know it can be improved is my sleep schedule.

Couple a days ago during a nap after work I tried a WILD. Instantly there was HI everywhere. Then felt my legs shaking so hard that I woke up. Got so excited that nothing happened.
Probably should try WILD more but it's hard to find time.

I can be really persistent when I want something so motivation is not an issue.
The thing is.. looking at my DJ I feel that by now a DILD should have worked. I mean, there's is so much weird stuff going on. It should be enough..

      Thanks for the reply.
      Cheers.

You might try experimenting with your sleep schedule, like you mentioned. I know some need more than others (I need tons). I also noticed something that's reported often by members here is that going to bed after midnight can be a culprit. Then beyond that, waking up too early for a WBTB can be a hindrance if you do need that extra sleep. Maybe try, for example, going to bed at midnight, then setting your first WBTB alarm for 6pm or 7pm.

I'm glad you're really motivated. And this should motivate you further: the HI and physical sensations you felt are a really good sign. I'm going to direct you to a really great thread on WILD sensations that should help you hone in on the different types, so you can use them as possible landmarks: http://www.dreamviews.com/wake-initi...ntry-wild.html

It's quite a read, but so worth it. Sometimes even just reading about other members' ways of entering WILD is enough to make all those subtle little transitions more concrete, and easier to lock onto, remember, and repeat.

      Ohhh thank you thank you
      Awesome thread!!
So I was probably really close on the WILD attempt! Cool. I'm so trying again today after work.
Had a huge dream today with lots of signs for me to pick. Still nothing.
      Anyway thanks again.
      Cheers.

That bolded text above is why you will succeed. My first LD was accidental. After that, it took me two months of trying and trying and trying to LD to succeed. So there's rule #1, which I think you'll have covered: keep showing up.

Don't feel bad about missing dreamsigns. Even super experienced lucid dreamers miss dreamsigns all the time. Fortunately, our brains present us with hundreds and hundreds of potential dreamsigns throughout the night. All it takes is one!

The biggest LD breakthrough for me was WBTB. How do you currently have this structured? It sounds like you're using alarms. When the alarm goes off, what do you do? Do you immediately try to go back to sleep and induce? Or do you stay up for a while and quietly think about lucid dreaming? I got my best results with a WBTB of 30 minutes or more, although shorter can work too. I'd suggest experimenting with what works best for you and keeping good records for you to review later. You'll be glad that you did!

Good luck and keep us up to date on how you do!

I had a dream with my Grandma that died 9 years ago. Cmoooon. I should have become instantly Lucid.

Honestly I don't have anything structured yet. I just starting to experiment.
Tried WILD 4 times. Two of them during an afternoon nap and the other two during a WBTB.

      The first one:

The other during a nap was really similar. Felt some shaking on one leg (probably not so intense). There was HI going on but every single time I kept waking up with my heart racing. Noob me

On the first WILD attempt during WBTB I ended up felling asleep and dreaming about WILD - DJ entry
      Pretty weird.

On the second one (today) I just fell asleep.

I went to bed at 00:00/00:30h, scheduled an alarm to 05:30. Got up, drank water petted my cats for some minutes and went back to bed like 15/20 minutes later. This is probably too short.
The weekend is coming and vacations too so I'll try and experiment with different timings.

      Thanks for the kind words

I've been dreaming like crazy. Some vivid dreams too.
It feels like I dream more every time I drink alcohol!!

      DJ entry:
      ###
      ... I was in some place I don't know. Probably a school.
These two girls are following me. Each one carries a hand bag. I left a room and turn to a big corridor. I'm getting a strange feeling.
They keep stalking me. I turn and one of them comes towards me like she wants to give me her bag and asks: "Are you Telmo?"
      My heart is racing!!
I felt being pulled down. Like I was in the middle of a spiral. There's this deep guttural roar. So weird.

      The dream stops.
I'm in my bed. I open my eyes and try to move. I can't.
The roar continues and there's this black silhouette in front of me.
I was trying so hard to move.
It lasted just a few seconds until I finally managed to move.
The thing is... I wasn't scared. I was somehow aware of all the stuff I've been reading about SP. And didn't gave it much thought.
I was trying to move because I thought I was in a middle of a WILD attempt and it was time I try and leave my body for my FIRST! Lucid dream.
I seems my mind is going all in at night. My recall is also improving every day but I'm still unable to get Lucid.

      First Lucid

      Had my first Lucid Dream.
This is a very good day.
I will never forget the feeling of finding out that I'm dreaming. It seemed like I was about to throw up with excitement.

Is this a low level of awareness LD? It seemed that most of the time I had a bit of control over my actions but I could not influence DCs, plot, or Dream scene.
I was asking this girl to have sex with me. I could just have sex with her. I mean it's my dream. Not sure if I did want to force a DC into sex

      Dream Journal entry here!

      Yeaaaahhhhhhh!!

I'll check out the DJ entry, but don't worry if you thought that your dream control wasn't as strong as you'd like! You'll have plenty more times to work on this. It's true that low awareness can be a cause of dream control woes, but more than anything it's a matter of belief.

Your example is good, too, because with dream control you actually don't "force" anything, ideally. You just know that it is so. You are lighter than air, you do see clearly, the cute DC already thinks you're wonderful. Anything you believe will be reality. So just believe it.

This will all come to you with practice!

      Hey hey all.

It’s been sometime since the last update. I’ve been lazy I know
I have decided not to update my dream Journal simply because it takes me some time to write in English. So from now on I’ll be sharing only my Lucids and some memorable non lucids.
I’m keeping a Portuguese written DJ.

So, I had my 3rd Lucid Dream. So cool.

The 2nd one was a FA. I woke up after I realized I was dreaming. This one was during a WILD attempt (nap).
I fell asleep with the mindset to “get up” as soon as I start to visualize a dream scene. So somehow when I realize that I was dreaming I forced myself to get up and snapped out of it… Oh well. Newbie me.

The 3rd one was a normal DILD. It lasted only a couple of minutes but man it was awesome.

I’ll update the DJ in the meanwhile.

One thing I’m noticing some improvement is my overall awareness in the dream scene. Several times during non lucids I’ve been questioning my surroundings.
I’m getting that felling that comes right before attaining lucidity that something doesn’t makes sense. Usually it’s not enough to attain lucidity. But I’m getting closer.
On a couple of non lucids things have happened that I thought to myself “Man this is so weird that I could definitely tell if this was dream”.

One thing that doesn’t seems to work for me is RCs. Not once I’ve done a RC in a dream.
I do realize that awareness is the key here and that RC is ideal normally to confirm but still I wonder if I’m doing something wrong.

      Cheers.
