Apple juice and taking vitamin B6 before bed can help create more vivid dreams, which you are more likely to remember in the morning. From personal experience, eating lots of junk food and pop before bed can either produce nightmares, or again fairly vivid dreams.
Watching a certain movie or show can definitely have an effect on what you dream about, at least for me. I was watching a show that involved guns, crystal meth, and drug lords the other day (called Breaking Bad), and I dreamed that I was running from the police and carrying a bag of narcotics. This has also happened quite a few other times.
