      Question Few Newbie Questions

      Hello all,

I've read many posts on the forum, but this is my first thread of my own creation. I'm new to lucid dreaming, and was looking for some advice as-well as answers to a few questions that I have developed along my journey.

I most recently had a lucid dream last night, I find that I enjoy a semi-lucid state just 'going with the flow' of my dream. Watching/experiencing my dream as a movie, however is there any easy way to get back lucid control once I have given it up?

I seem to be limited by my expectations of reality, all of my dreams as in places I frequent in my waking life. School, work, sometimes a familiar aspects in an alien environment.

I've tried flying, but made some rookie mistakes. I have tried transportation, but I am having trouble convincing myself to let go of expectations of reality? I can seem to control the environments of the dream world, only myself. Where I go, and how I interact with the people and environments already in the dream. Before sleep, I tend to get paranoid checking the room etc. Even now I am looking over my shoulder as I type this post, only happens when I am thinking about dreams. (Which is odd). Could this relate to why I am holding onto my exceptions of reality, as anyone had a similar problem?

      Hi Kjp, welcome to Dreamviews!

I'm not sure what you mean by lucid control. Do you mean how to get more lucidity instead of staying in a semi-lucid state? If so, you can always stay focused on the dream and don't move, observing things and just letting your mind become more clear. You should ground yourself in the dream and just keep repeating to yourself, "I'm dreaming". It helps the lucidity stick around.

I too mostly appear in school, my house, and my neighborhood. To help myself let go of the expectations of reality, I think to myself that dreaming's just like being the director of a movie. You may be modelling the movie after something real, but you can change whatever you want. You might have your house in the movie but going through the front door could lead to the top of a volcano and not the street, you know? Expectations are everything in a dream. Since you know it's not real, and that you can do absolutely anything, just think of it and it will happen.

Open a door and expect a certain dream character to be on the other side. Punch a dream character and expect them to laugh, and they probably will. Same goes for flying. If it helps, turn around and expect a jetpack to be on the ground, then put it on and fly away. Myself, I often use mechanical means to fly because it's more reliable, but flying without any assistance is possible too. Good luck!
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Thanks for the tips, by dream control I was referring to absolute control of the dream. I create, the environment, and the people and items in them. Not, just interacting with a pre-build environment.

No problem. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
With enough experience you can control any aspect of your dreams, so practice practice practice!

Can't help you in the control, I am currently working on it. If I had to rate my control on a scale of 1-10, I would probably say 1 or 2.

But, to stay in lucidity... well, read my latest DJ post if you want to see my techniques.
