Unhappy Relaxing Yourself when doing a WILD. Needs help!

Hello everyone. I'm super new here, but I know lots about lucid dreams. So every time I attempt to do a WILD, I set my alarm clock at 5:00. Once I'm awake I try to lie in bed and do the wild. Problem is, I'm just so excited about having one that I can't relax. I try visualizing what my dream will look like but that just makes me more excited. So any tips? Thanks a lot.
And also, does listening to any types of beats help to do a WILD, and if so, what types? again, thx.

I imagine that listening to any form of music or rhythm would be a hindrance, though that is just me. First off, I say don't try a WILD yet. If you are still getting that excited about lucid dreaming, you are still relatively new and should probably get some LD's under your belt first, perhaps using the DILD, DEILD, or MILD methods. This way you wont be quite as excited when you try to WILD.

I say all this because I know what that excitement is like, and it made trying to have an LD a nightmare (figuratively). Start with the easiest ways of having lucids and move on from there. Good luck and welcome to the forums.

I agree with InsaneKid completely. It's very difficult to use WILD to induce one of the first lucid dreams. I am a lucid dreamer since I can remember, and still having trouble with WILD.

If you really need to do this, one way is to practice one of the uncountable relaxation techniques. There is plenty information on them on the forums and the Internet in general. Especially reverse blinking seems to be very effective for many people (me included).

The other way that seems to be effective (it got me very far) is just occupying your mind with techniques without focus on external stimuli. There is a "How to have an instant WILD" thread by mcwillis in the WILD section. It introduces a book which can help you a great deal with this kind of attitude.

These are types of lucid dreams categorized by induction techniques, you can find it pretty much anywhere.
DILD - Dream Induced Lucid Dream
WILD - Waking Induced Lucid Dream
DEILD - Dream End Induced Lucid Dream
MILD - Mnemonically Induced Lucid Dream
