      Need tips to keep calm

Hello everyone, I'm new here. I have my LD count at 1/2 because I only made it to the sleep paralysis stage of the WILD method. I couldn't move, and I saw things in my room start to fall. I'm wondering if that's the kind of hallucinations that sleep paralysis creates. But I got a little scared and just woke up, everything in it's rightful place Does anyone have any tips to staying calm in sleep paralysis? Thanks

When I experienced it I had my eyes closed. Therefore I couldn't see anything, but I did hear the magnified sound of my heartbeat. Just remember that you can wake up at any time and nothing can hurt you.

There are a few ways that I've done this. It is definitely hard! My biggest problem when I first started LDing was trying to keep calm and not get overly excited and wake myself up!

Definitely, tell yourself to be calm and not get too excited. Of course, this doesn't always work. I've found that the spinning technique helps in many ways. It can change the dream, and it also kind of helps me ground myself in the dream. A problem with this though is changing the dream to the point where you forget that you're dreaming all over again!

Another thing that helps is rubbing your hands together. This can also increase the vividness of the dream and stabilize yourself.

Good luck and welcome to DV!

Remind yourself that sleep paralysis happens to you every night, you just usually aren't conscious so don't experience it. What I try to do is ignore what is happening around you. Focus on creating a dream environment, say, a tropical beach of some kind. Make it as realistic as possible, and it probably will turn into your dream. You saw hallucinations, yes. But that's normal. Just ignore the hallucinations and focus on creating a dream environment. You'll do fine
What I usually do when I feel I am waking up in a lucid dream is stare at my hands. Notice the detail in them until the clarity of your dream is very vivid. This works like 90% of the time for me

Yeah, that's okay. What you're experiencing are called hypnagogic hllucinations and they're a perfectly natural part of sleep paralysis. Just sit through them and you'll be fine.

      You're almost there!
