      Giddy newbie with first LDs!

      Hihi everybody.

So as long as I can remember I've always had really frequent and really bizarre dreams (which was cool enough!) but knew nothing about lucid dreaming. I happened across this site a few days ago and after two unsucessful nights of trying I had my first lucid dream.

I was in a large circus tent with Wagner from the UK Xfactor (not a fan, I don't know why he was there!) and there was a shelf of circus props. With no reality checking or anything I just suddenly thought 'I'm dreaming' and then decided I should try to walk toward the shelf. I took two steps and then all of a sudden the whole scene turned into speckled white noise like you get on a TV. I was thinking 'damn, how do I get that back?' and that was the last thing I remember.

Then last night I kept waking up in the night and repeating 'I will have a lucid dream' as I was going back to sleep. I had a dreams few where I realised I was dreaming but had no control. The most memorable was one where I was sort of flying but really low to the ground and then I thought 'well this is obviously reality but I should do a reality check. So I looked at some painted white writing on the roads which now I realise didn't make sense but it did in the dream. Then i looked back and it was too far behind me so I gave up still convinced that it was reality.

A promising start I reckon and I can't wait to get to sleep to try it some more. I think my main problem is going to be getting over-excited about it!

Congrats, on your third try thats really good. But you should try to stay clam and not to get to excited once you realize your dreaming you should concentrate more on stablizing your lucids first. It will make them more vivid and longer and just a better experience. If you want to learn more about dream stablizing just look it up on this site sure you will find something. Just keep up the positive attitude. Hope it helps.

Congrats on becoming lucid! You got to love how your mind does all it can to keep you from being lucid. Lmao at performing a RC in mid-flight and deciding that it must be reality. It happens though. With some practice and experience you will be able to over those small hurdles quite easily. Just do your best to keep your emotions in check. If you get overly emotional and the dream gets unstable, or you think it may become unstable...go ahead and perform some stabilization techniques. As soon as you become lucid, you should take a few moments to stabilize as well. It sounds like a promising start indeed. Good luck to you and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!

Thanks for the tips, I'll keep trying. I need to try lots of different RCs to find what works I think. Last night I dreamt I was looking at the display on my phone to see if it made sense but instead of realising I was sleeping I just concluded that my phone was broken! Doh.

Lol, yeah that tends to happen. Its crazy to think about the assumptions one makes during the dream state. Just keep practicing and you'll get a grasp on it.

      Hi cakelady,

Congrats on your success! That is very impressive you had success so soon. Hopefully you will be a natural. I'm with KingYoshi in laughing about flying and thinking that was real! Crazy, isn't it?
