      I need help relaxing

      Hi, I'm new to this whole lucid dreaming thing (about 2-3 days into it) and I have discovered extreme difficulty in the relaxation portion of a WILD. My first attempt was a DILD and I realized that would occur at extreme random, so i tried a WILD. I went to bed at 11 and woke up at 3, now I realize this isn't the recommended pre-sleep of 6 hours, would this affect my relaxation when I begin WILDing? I layed there for 40 minutes counting my breaths but for the life of me just COULD NOT get to the point of transition or even relaxation for that matter. Any tips?

      Some people battle to get their first WILD and others don't so it's a tough method. However, if your main problem is relaxation you can try meditating before WILDing or you can listen to soft calming music, although some people may think music stops the WILD or keeps you too much awake. So i guess meditating is the best option. To do basic meditation just lie down and as thoughts come into your head think about them for a moment, then imagine placing them into a box/bag. After your mind is quite clear and thoughts are not really coming into your head you can lock the box or burn it whatever. Try doing this before you WILD and you should be more relaxed.

      Welcome to DV and I hope you get the WILD right

      You have three options.

      1. Try and try and try until you've let go of that excitement. The whole point is to fall asleep, and if you're too excited you will never be able to do it. This will come in time and with experience.

      2. Try another technique. I had your problem and I gave up quickly on WILD. I decided to focus mainly on MILD and it works great. I can even DEILD now and have succeded in a few WILD's aswell.

      3. Start meditating and combine it with step 1. By meditating frequently you learn to relax and you become used to small changes in your body. Numbing, rushing, tingling sensations won't rile you up as much and you will have an easier time WILD'ing.

      You also need to wake up in the middle of a REM period when you try to WILD. Good luck!

      I'm beginning to get used to the sensations. I hear strange whispers and noises, I repeat a mantra "I will do reality checks". Many times until OBE, but nothing happens after that point.

      Sorry, I don't know too much about WILD, but I do know that with mantras it's sometimes good to say something in the present tense because it is more immediate, so maybe try 'i am dreaming' or ' I am lucid dreaming'. I'm not too sure but in some WILDs you can create your own dreamscape slowly.

      yeah i havntbeen doing it too long either maybe 6 days and am trying to do the DILD mixed with MILD to induce lucid dreaming... none yet however i found that binaural beats are extremely helpfull... get a playlist and make them start with alpha beats then theta then gamma

      alpha= fatigue
      theta= ups spiritual chances of a lucid dream
      gamma= awareness... if yur asleep this will cause you to be aware of whats around you... the dream itself

      Gamma actually doesn't affect anything (I read a study done by a university you can find the reference in wiki) but I've done my research, and set a most helpful playlist beginning with theta, then alpha. Theta for relaxing you and alpha to help with the dream.
