The new guy with some questions

      Hey guys

For about a month I've been trying different lucid dreaming techniques however none have been particularly effective. I think so far I've only had about 1 LD but I have no idea how I did it and it was all very blurry so I didn't get very far. (I pretty much realized I was dreaming, did a reality check to be sure, rubbed my hands together to make it clearer, spun around, ended up outside and started to question if I was actually dreaming, so to check I woke up and realized the stupid thing I had just done.)Anyway now before going to sleep I see a screen like thing in front of me, almost like a television, would this be just some hallucination from a wild like effect?

Also what's a good LD technique that doesn't screw up your sleep pattern too much, I usually get to bed around 1am and sleep in till 10am. I've tried reality checking but I either forget or it doesn't work properly.

      Hi and welcome to dreamviews!

I am not sure on the WILD question(since I have never tried a WILD)

On the last question: The best technique for a guy who are new to this, and has your sleep pattern would be the MILD or DILD. On the DILD technique (wich I guess you have tested.) get a rule or whatever you call it. Wich says when you are going to do a RC. I use the rule that I do a RC whenever I change scene( like leaving a building etc.)

Good luck with the lucid dreams

If you don't want to screw up your sleep schedule, try squeezing in an afternoon nap. Mess with the timing until you find a time slot where you know you dream during your nap.

Most reliable techniques require you to wake, for at least a few minutes, in the middle of the night.

      Whats up, mann?

The TV screen you see if probably a result of hypnagogic imagery. (Hypnagogia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia) Basically mild hallucinations that occur between the waking-state and sleeping-state.

And I agree that the best technique for starting out is a DILD/MILD combo. Train yourself throughout the day to stop and really question if you are dreaming. Use dream signs (settings, people, or things that occur frequently in BOTH your dreams and waking life) If you hang out with your friend "Bob" a lot, and he shows up in your dreams too, whenever you see him do a Reality Check.

WBTB doesn't mess with your sleep schedule that much. All you have to do is wake up for 15 minutes or so (after 4-6 hours of sleep), and as you fall back to sleep use a mantra like " I will lucid dream...I will lucid dream..."

Hope that helps. Good luck, and let me know if you have any other questions. =]
