I dont DEILD regularly but I have been trying to lately. I have been able to train myself to keep my eyes closed when I wake up and it is extremely valuable. What I did was before bed, repeated a mantra "I will keep my eyes closed and stay completely still when I wake up." Then when I wake up, if I would move or open my eyes, I would just correct myself and tell myself "next time I'll be still and keep my eyes closed." After doing this for about a week I was able to train myself to be completely still and keep my eyes closed every time I woke up. It also helped me to just be more aware of exactly when I wake up which is also very helpful for recall. Welcome to dreamviews |

Thanks alot for the quick reply, I will definately try the mantra as it seems to work very well, do mantras have to be performed out load or can i just repeat it in my head as there are family members who probably dont want to hear me speaking whilst they are all trying to get to sleep |

What about being able to naturally wake up and not drift back to sleep? Because I don't even remember when I wake up. Sometimes, I set my alarm, and in the morning I don't even remember turning it off!! |

yea i used to have that problem where i would turn off my alarm and not realize that i had woke up at all. Before i went to sleep i would tell myself that i would realize when i woke up and not go back to bed until i acknowledged that i was awake. Worked for me |

I have been WTBTing though... |

Well try the mantra before bed, tell yourself that you will "realize when you wake up and not go back to bed" like yesac suggested. You could also try to make it a point not to turn off your alarm right away and let it wake you up a bit. I realize it will be difficult considering most of the time you dont even remember turning it off in the morning, but by setting your intention on waking up fully during each WBTB you will start to get better and better. |
