      Was this a lucid dream?

I joined this site last night before going to bed after reading all the info from the Home page and I think one of the things stuck with me about making something or someone in the dream do something you want to do to get control of the dream in a sort of indirect way. Well, I was dreaming this morning and I remember I had a thought which I'm not sure was being aware of the dream, but that nonetheless made me want to experience something that I couldn't normally do, like flying. I guess my brain decided I didn't have the resources to do such thing and instead tried a cheaper version: freefalling from the sky. And suddenly, Cesar Milan, the dogwhisperer (don't ask me why) says something like 'Do you want to know how to save your life if you're a dog falling from a plane?', and as he said that I started falling from a plane.

Would this be considered lucid dreaming?

Also, on a separate note, often times when I sleep well into the morning, around 11 or 12 or even more, having previously awoken and "decided" to sleep for a few more hours, even after looking at the clock and realizing I've slept more than enough already, I feel incredibly sleepy, even more than when I woke up 2 or 3 hours earlier. I call this sticky sleep, because it feels like it's sticking all over my body pinning me to the bed and shutting my eyes, which is very different from the pleasant sensation of being sleepy after being tired. Is this related to sleep stages?

That is not considered a lucid dream, but it's a good start. If you can just notice that switch next time you'll be lucid. Try practicing RC's looks like that would work well for you, along with ADA.

Sleeping too much gives you that feeling, I'll sleep for 10-14 hours a day and just feel like shit. I know the feeling of being pinned to the bed, I think it's from your muscles being inactive for so long :X I usually sleep a lot because of depression or if I know I have nothing to do all day, I'll just sleep it away.

Hello spooky and Welcome to DreamViews!

In order for a dream to be considered a lucid dream, you must realize that you are dreaming from within the dream state. It is possible to have control and not be lucid. It is also possible to be lucid, but not have control. Though, like Reclypso said, this is a good start. It shows that dreaming in general and the desire to become lucid is on your mind. Just keep practicing and learning material. Soon you will be able to bring this idea to the forefront of your mind and take hold of lucidity.

As for the "sticky sleep," I think Reclypso has nailed it. Often times when you sleep for long periods of time, you feel very tired and don't even want to get out of bed. I think he is right about the muscles inactivity as well. If you just force yourself out of bed and get those muscles working again, you should be good to go.

I know RC is reality check, but I don't know what ADA means.

That happens to me too! Also if I take naps during the day. Though I was trying this for the trick of waking up during REM state, like 6 hours after you went to bed, and then 90 minutes after that. I tried it this morning again and I just couldn't get up the 2nd time.

EDIT: Scratch that, I just read what ADA means in Yoshi's tutorial. I'll give it a try.

I think I've had some vaguely lucid dreams some time ago, but woke up imediately after realizing. This morning I was remembering that you must spin if you feel you're about to wake up but I wasn't eactly dreaming, it was more like normally awake imagining, and I wanted really hard to control it and do cool stuff but it just slipped away from me. I'm trying to make a habit of coming to this site every night before going to bed so it's the last thing on my mind.

Yeah, it really helps when you have your mind on dreaming. It sounds like you are making some good progress. Just keep practicing and keep learning along the way. If you ever have anymore questions, don't hesitate to ask!
