      Hi, welcome to Dreamviews!

Instead of trying to convince DCs (dream characters) that you're dreaming, forget about them entirely. If you're constantly bombarded by accusations like "what are you doing, this isn't a dream" or are simply just arguing with a DC about whether you're dreaming or not, it can distract you from paying attention to what's around you. Put any doubt on the back burner and just do some stabilization, then go flying or something! If you find yourself becoming lucid and then losing awareness right when a DC says you're not dreaming, you might just have to work on being a bit more aware, or conscious, in waking life. That way, the next time you become lucid and a DC tries to tell you off, you'll say, "nice try, but I know I'm dreaming."
We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

Thanks for the warm welcome and great advice, I love dreaming and know I need more practice in LD, the tips are great, I do tend to argue that it is my dream, so I will try not letting that part bother me. I sometimes think that the dream isn't just mine, I once had a LD where there were several family members in the kitchen and we were chatting, I then gave them all a key word to ask when we all woke, needless to say when I asked them for the keyword they thought I was mad. Ha ha. But cool website, I look forward to sharing more experiences and reading up on others experiences.

      Take care
