Lightbulb A dream I clearly remember, and Hi, I am iDreamOfThings

Hello, my username is iDreamOfThings, but for those who read this frequent this thread and have good memory, just call me josh. I, just this morning, wanted to search up on lucid dreaming. Oddly enough though, I cannot remember why I searched or how I even knew what the term lucid dreaming was.

Anywho, I am here now, and am very interested in lucid dreaming. I've read a bit about the MILD and WILD techniques and feel that they seem simple enough to practice, but I was wanting to share an extremely vivid dream that I remember from last year.

It started out with me, a wolf walking on two legs, and a red headed girl in a track suit on a sidewalk with dark street lamps, the kind you'd normally find in neighborhoods, and it was in the middle of the night. I could see each individual grass blade and what not. Oddly enough, the wolf was holding a fishbowl with water in it. Anyways, we started toward this wire fence that was in front of a red brick house. The fence was unhooked from one corner of the fence post so it was hanging.

We then proceeded to climb over the fence, and then as soon as we were over, I became aware that it was a dream. Once I was aware I instantly woke up, devastated that I was having such a vivid dream only to be ejected upon awareness, but this was before I knew lucid dreaming even existed. So I had no clue what that was.

I've also had past experiences when I was young, like age 8-11. I had vivid dreams about going to the store. Then a dream character would come up to me and talk to me. At that point I would become aware and attempt to speak, but to my avail I woke up. So, oddly, every time I attain awareness in a dream I always just seem to get ejected back out into the waking world.

So, type what you think of what I've had gone through and I hope you all recieve me well into your community!

      Welcome to dreamviews, idreamofthings!!

Your dream sounds pretty cool, and VERY random. Its actually pretty common to wake up as soon as you realise that you are dreaming. A good way to counter this is to use stabilisation techniques, these basically focus your attention onto the dream and your dream body, keeping you grounded in the dream.
Rubbing your hands together, feeling walls or the floor for their tecture, eating things, smelling things, tasting things... They all help to ground you in the dream so you can stay there longer. Good luck with your lucid adventures and i hope to hear about more lucids soon!!
Any questions about anything, feel free to PM me, or anybody else here on this site, we are all lovely..... *toots his own horn*
      Haha.
      Take care.

Simply because you can breathe, doesn't mean your alive, or that you really live....

I think your main problem is being excited. You may not feel like you wanna do everything all at once when you suddenly realize it's a dream, but it is quite a shock to figure it out, and you get bumped out of the dream. People tell you to stabilize, but if you are anything like me, those dreams just end way to fast to even think of stabilizing before you are out.

After a while, you tend to get used to it and the "shock" factor decreases. You more figure it out and assume you are dreaming, instead of just suddenly realizing it and getting knocked out.

Just try a few more times and try to remember what that feeling was like, when you first suspected it was a dream. So next time it happens, you recognize the feeling instead of being taken by surprise from it. Then hopefully you will have enough time to stabilize.

      Hi and welcome, Josh. ^^,

Like the others says, you maybe got too excited. I think that happens for most of people in the first lucid dream, and it's very common. It happened to me as well.
Check this site out, the Wiki is very useful.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask! We would love to help.

      Good luck, and happy dreams!

Special thanks to Darkmatters for my signature picture.

Anyway, welcome Josh, hope you like it here!

That was an.... unique way to get a lucid dream...
But now that you've already have had one, I think you could get Lucid easier. I had it that way

Welcome to Dreamviews, Josh! Glad you decided to join

WILDing and MILDing are both great techniques. You can look in my signature for a WILD guide you can check out. If you're looking for a good MILD guide, I would recommend reading Naiya's Simple MILD Technique.

It sounds like you got too overwhelmed once you realized you were dreaming. You need to learn to stay calm, and then stabilize the dream. Check out this stabilization tutorial to make your lucid last longer.

Anyway I hope to see you posting around the forums often, and maybe even come into chat. If you have any questions just PM me. Good luck!
